VST/AU in Logic and Mac

Post by hsdjmatt »

No kick topics, no exceptions.
For kick-related stuff use the topics in the red text above.

g'day guys,
i recently changed from FL Studio to Logic Pro, and having some problems installing the plugins. In FL it was all VST, but Logic doesn't seem to accept VST's. Does mac only support AU, or is that just logic? So like if I installed cubase on mac, would it suppport vst? because i dont think logic does.

Logic only works with AU (Audio Unit.) VSTs don't work on Logic.

VSTs can run on mac, but the DLL VST files won't run on OSX. I don't know the format for VST on OSX off the top of my head.

vsts do not work with logic. they used to in earlier versions afaik, but now it's au-exclusive.
the AU format is *.component and the native VST/VST3 format for mac is *.vst(3) (duh)

You can download FX Pansion plugin which makes VST working as a AU on MAC

Imagine building a guitar and then tuning it and then playing it. That's what electronic music is.
