it probably still is. and there is no demand for 'current hardstyle' in Melbourne. It's still 2008 down here in the eyes of many international djs and thats why they dont come here.

that was fucking ahhmazing! had such an awesome time. Vazard and Delete killed it, no way to describe how epic it was hearing tracks like Syndrome on a big system, brutal and everyone was just loving it! was awesome meeting the fellas from here, all cool guys
too bad i couldnt catch up with all of you.
Frontliners set was good but way too quiet, you could hear everyone talking
Karpe DM was sick, glad i watched him instead of Max Enforcer by the look of the tl.
The Anthem at the end was just orgasmic
Only complaint is that the day went too quick lol
Bring on iQon!!!!

I went Zany > Evil Activities > The R3belz > Frontliner > HeadHunterz > Wildstylez.
Fun day out and really enjoyed the production on RED. It was my 3rd defqon and it easily beats defqon 09 and 2011 end shows and stage design.
Frontliner and R3belz were the highlights. Also found HHz and wildstylez pretty decent and it worked well the progression.
Probably should of went and saw some more black and Code Black on red but anyways.
Awesome work with the tracklists for the sets.
Kinda wish they had the dome for blue stage like last year though. Ran-D and technoboy killed it inside last year.
Crossing my fingers we get Thera or Geck-O out next yr.

I see I'm a week late. How about that, eh? I kinda didn't notice because I'm still getting excited about this years event even after it having taken place. Thus, I declare Version 4.0 to have been the best edition to date.
Further to that, Defqon1AU 2012 also holds several more distinctions, namely-
While sitting on the hill off to the side of Blue just before The R3bels set, a friend asked me who had done the anthem this year. I thought about it for a bit but the best I could come up with was that Wildstylez, and a combination of Wildstylez, Hhz and NC had done both Defqon anthems this year, though which one was for which event I couldn't say for sure (but Emergency Call was '05 and Colour of the Harder Styles was '06. Isn't it funny- the way you remember good tracks but forget shit ones? Just sayin'.) Even in the weeks leading up, when questioned as to who was playing I had to defer to the Q-Dance website (no shit- I was like "Zany? Frontliner? Code Black? I don't remember hearing about any of that...!?"). Here's the thing though- the moment the lineup was announced, there were only ever two names that mattered...
...Vazard and Delete.
What took place during the 60 minutes these guys were on stage is, without any exaggeration, the best set I have ever heard played in the entire eight years I've been listening to Hardstyle.
No, wait... that's a lie...
...it's actually nine years now. The best set in nine years.
(@Stu & Ryan- you guys probably just thought I was fucked up when I told you that afterwards and could be excused for thinking so. However, I absolutely stand by that judgement.)
Proof, if ever it was needed (not that it ever was) that Spoontech are without a doubt the best thing in Hardstyle right now and no one who was there to witness this set would disagree, save for perhaps an arseclown of the highest order.
There's little more I can say really. Unfortunately there was no broadcast, and thus no recording. I could go on and on about how epic this set was, but without being able to produce a recording as evidence, I doubt anyone would ever believe me, so I'll just finish with some emoticons instead...
To the others who were there- timdawes and DjPractice- it was cool to finally meet you guys- I look forward to doing it again at some stage.
And Patrick Nightstalker- I hope Australia has treated you well and that the event experience can justify the trip, and maybe even a return.
And to the ones I didn't get to meet- AaronM, VanillaFace, Affy- I propose that we resolve now to better organise a meet up next time, be it at Iqon or DQ1AU13 (Vicious I was looking for you in a giant sombrero, but the ones I saw I did not feel were large enough to warrant any further investigation, though perhaps we have wildly varying definitions of large... which is probably what my girlfriend would say too, if I had one
).
So let us now turn our attention to speculating wildly about the as yet undisclosed (and probably still yet to be finalised) details of the forthcoming Iqon (or iQon, for Mac users
).
Further to that, Defqon1AU 2012 also holds several more distinctions, namely-
- -Highest drink expenditure to date (some $70), surpassing that of the previous three years combined.
-Least amount of time spent at the Mainstage (approximately 30mins total, though only 15 of those were occupied by paying attention to the goings-on there- the rest being merely incidental).
And finally;
-Hosting the most outstanding DJing performance I've yet seen (more on that in a moment...)
