Why no Sample Packs From big names?

Post by Valtiel »

One thing that's struck me was there are no Sample packs containing kicks, toks, sound present's etc from some of the big names in the Biz to help people out.

I for one am struggling with making a kick (current track uses a lot of layered samples), but actual synths, general in track samples and arrangement I'm fine with.

It just strikes me that none of them have done sample packs containing the above as I know a lot of people would buy them & It would help push the future generation of producer an give them a helping start.

UK Hardcore Producer: Eufeion - Soundcloud

Valtiel - "attendant" by way of the French word "valet"; the existence as an angel is derived from suffixing "-el". Thus, is "Attendant of God".

The Only thing it would do is that a lot of people wont learn the basics and focus on using samples.
Instead of pushing future generations it would be more a way of stagnating them.

Yeah agreed :)
Producing isn't/shouldn't be easy

But that's if they aloud them self to do that an didn't want to learn. Most styles have packs out there for sale, even old reverse bass hardstyle. Plus there's a lot more within a track than I mentioned. After all, you could have the best sounds made in the world, unless you know how to utilise it, it's wasted :p

MKN: Same as what I just said above ^^

Considering that the vast majority of sample pack users don't modify the sounds or learn from them, it would be a waste of time and effort.

Why would I or any other producers want to sell my hard work so that other people will sound like me without the effort?

I've worked very hard to develop my style and sound, it doesn't make much sense for me to make what I do easy/available for others. Like others have said, I don't think it would help other people, because people usually don't learn. It makes people lazy.

Music and its production are a journey and developing your own sounds and skill are a very large part of that.

Why are you surprised that there aren't any sample/presetpacks from big names? Those producers worked years on perfecting their style, sound and skill. Not to mention the amount of hours they put into it. Putting up sample/presetpacks wouldn't help people to be better producers. It would just cause them to release tracks without putting a lot of effort into it. So there is no decent argument to substantiate the pro's of releasing a preset/samplepack by a big name in the scene. Producing is a lot of work and if you're not willing to put in the time and effort, there is no reason to start producing in the first place :)
