on a serious note, when i've seen the title of the topic, i thought of some classy discussion about classical musicians, but when i've opened it... damn! not so classy! so i decided to bring some class in this thread)

to me the best classisal composer of the 20th century is Alfred Schnittke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Schnittke) i loved him since childhood, his music is so surrealist, so sophisticated, and so abstract! here are some examples:

With still no idea how to define greatest, I will just put 2 "great" composers here:

David Wise
Koji Kondo

For making AWESOME music regardless of the technical limitations of their medium :) (they are video game music composers :p)
