Imagine building a guitar and then tuning it and then playing it. That's what electronic music is.

the trick is to reverse and timestretch a punch.

i made that bass out of a punch, yes a punch, Not a bass

first you need to reverse the punch, then put it in the piano roll where the bass notes should be, then you have to choose mono timestretch in FL sampler and timestretch by 1 bar, try it, you'll see that it turns into some kind of bass

after that you just have to add some overdrive, EQ, distortion, bit-crusher & a stereo imager until it sounds just right

hope it helps

btw the punch i used for the bass was 'VEC3 Clubby 053'

the thing posted above is quite a good method.
other method is u do a normal Kick and reverse the tail and add some Different distortion like old analog distortion plugs like D16 Devastor and this kinda distortions .
u can mess around with the waves too.
just do some experiments there arent any tricks for how u do something.

let me just add, you can use a bass/a hardcore kick/Fred Gwynne's voice... anything which sounds good...

but the trick to getting that oldskool sound is by reversing and timestretching the source
