Rock Music? Fave Artists? Fave Subgenres? Etc

Post by Lop-Sided »

When I first started listening to music, I started off casually listening to rock music and EDM. I used to enjoy rock music a lot, although I only used to listen to a handful of artists, what the radio played, and to what my friends suggested. However, since I never really heavily knew anything about rock music or its subgenres, and I started to really get much more involved in the EDM scene, I lost interest completely in it. Now, I don't listen to it anymore...period.

Today, however, I saw people talking about rock music, and this give me a sudden urge to want to listen to some songs again. The only problem, however, is that I don't know where to start. All the songs/artists that I can recall are stuff that I've already listened to a million times in the past, and quite frankly, I'm sort of looking for something new. (Linkin Park, for example, was great, but I'm kind of looking to try something new or to expand my horizons.)

I think that there are at least a couple rock fans here, or something. Idk. But I was wondering if anybody could maybe give me some more information on the rock scene in general. Maybe some good artists or your personal favorite subgenres or something. Anything works fine, I just want to see whats out there. :)

Thank you so much in advance! :)

My Favorite band is Blink 182, I can play like all their songs on guitar. :)

ACDC are pretty good and they're Aussie :D

Silverchair are pretty good, I like their old stuff.

I'm into a lot of different stuff, I can go on forever but I cbf.

nahh angels and airwaves are just a lame, sentimental copy of what blink182 used to be, mixed with the riffs of taking back sunday...
from all rock genres i like metal, metalcore, hardcore, gothic metal & rock, industrial, screamo and emo the most... (still) and yea, a lot of visual-kei related gothic/metal bands from japan.
even though this hipster-britpop stuff is getting really interesting lately (oh the commercial irony!!!)

it's a pretty wide range from known bands like slipknot to small bands like eisregen, which are barely known outside of the german-speaking metal scene.
taking back sunday, scary kids scaring kids, alesana, bring me the horizon, parkway drive, neaera, have heart, from first to last (sonny moore anyone? haha :P), rammstein, sunny day real estate, nightwish (sorry cerro, but the OLD nightwish xD), the birthday massacre, AFI, killing the dream, killing the dream, malice mizer, lolita complex (in which i had been the bassist for some time), d'espairs ray, converge, otep, kittie, the used, boysetsfire, silverstein, deathstars, poison the well, avenged sevenfold, underoath, girugamesh, muderdolls, the berzerker, some old classics (acdc and esp queen and led zeppelin), atreyu, the get-up kids,...

too lazy to continue XD
aw man, i wish i could store all this great music on my fucking retarded laptop...
