Yes, they are. Like many other stuff from the nineties. For example Neophyte was way harder in the nineties than he is now. Used to love their stuff back then (NEO001 was their last really awesome release as a group imo).
But i was talking about the oldschool time (90-92), not the early hardcore period. It started to evolve pretty fast after that. And the Skinhead stuff was more the chaotic side of hard imo. You should check the old terror from PCP like Kotzaak Klan :)

They havn't really made tracks together by themselves for a while, isn't it just Jeroun(probably spelt wrong) producing now, and the rest help for live acts and for masters of ceremony.
Thats the sound of your brain cracking! :p

It's about early house parties and also about the transisition of house into even harder electronic music styles in the early 90's.

so 1990-1991 = experimental hardcore tracks
1991 = dominator
1991-1995 = hoover sound is standard?
1995= MOH and Traxtorm start
1995-2011 = hardcore sounds like hardcore
is that right?

1995-1997 maybe
From 1998-2000 the scene had to go through some major changes.
And the style relatively close to what we know today emerged from that.
But still 2000-2005 is considered an era on its own by a lot of people today. (same build and such as nowadays' mainstream, but usually slower or darker).

Just read through all the stuff in the previous four pages, and for as far as I know, the first hardcore tracks were considered to be some harder house tracks in the early nineties, in a club in Rotterdam called "Parkzicht" I believe. This lead to the genre we know as "early hardcore".

This is where the roots of the "mainstream hardcore" as we know it today lie, still early hardcore is played a lot and even produced by some artists today.

In between, from 1998 to about 2002, maybe even 2004, there was the transition from "early hardcore" to "mainstream hardcore". The music produced then was called "millenium hardcore".

So depending on what you mean with "hardcore", I would say it started in the early nineties, the late ninties, or around 2005.

This report should give some insight on how the dutch felt in 1995.
Press the little arrow in right-bottom and then press 'CC' to see english subs.
