Bass Distorts Melody
Hey guys,
I finally learnt how to make a decent bass for the melody, but when i play it with any lead sounds, the bass really overpowers and distorts the sound of the melody. I've tried to lower the volume on the bass but that didn't have any effect. It is either too low that you cannot hear it, or at a level where you can hear it, but it distorts the melody. What should i do?
Any tips would be great.
Thanks.

Like Vioda said, Use EQ. There is probably a lot of frequencies from the melody & bass clashing together

The answer to your question is already on the question.
If the "bass distorts melody", it's because they both have something in common. But, you have to look what you want, the bass from the bass, or the bass from the melody.
Obviously is the bass from the bass. So, put an EQ on the melody and put an High Pass around 24 dB/Octave, near the 200 Hz area. Also, add an Low Shelf band reducing 6 dB around 800 Hz area. Kinda recepy, but try to tweak the EQ till you find the "good sounding spot".
Also, your bass might be having too much "high frequencies". You need to in fact analyze this, an good hardstyle bass have an big peak around 60 - 90 Hz area, if the big peak isn't there, then your bass is a bit too loud in the high frequencies.

Fuck you don't need to be a dickhead about it. I'm sick of people like you. Everybody starts somewhere and I just said i was new to producing. This site is supposed to help people out, but then people like you come along, thinking that they are the greatest, and just insult me. All i asked for was a little help.
