So, i haven't really seen this anywhere here. This monday Frontliner is releasing a huge sample pack consiting of hundreds of kicks, effects, percussions.... He says that these days there are too few creative producers and eveyrone just focuses on the technical process, the sole difficulty of which discourages a lot of potentially good producers out there who could bring some interesting stuff. What do you think about this? Kinda mixed feelings about this here, on one hand there will be overflow of half-assed bad copies of Frontliner tracks, on the other hand couldn't agree with him more on the creativity side of this scene...
I listen to all the demo's I get, they all have the same problem and that is the lack of decent sounddesign. I get SO many extremely creative and catchy demo's that I really can not release because the sound design is really bad. that's what moved me to this in the first place, if your kick is not right there is no way you can get your mix to sound right. When you do have a kick that sounds right you can get the rest of your sounddesign better too. I'm not saying tracks that do not have my kick in it are not good, I'm saying that if you do not have a good kick your entire sounddesign is horrible. So if you use any decent kick (good luck finding an other producer releasing theirs btw) you can get everything to work and then you can see how much difference a good kick makes. So by then you have everything (creativity, good sounddesign, an arrangement that people will like) but most of all you have an extremely clear reference file of a kick.(the one that you picked for your track) Now that you know what a kick does and what it is supposed to sound like(there are over 300 in my pack with layering different ones it's basically an endless number) you know what you want your own kicks to sound like. My tutorials on kicks will benefit too as I can explain really clearly what to do. But mostly this annoys me because when the sounddesign is not there yet I can hear really creative parts or full tracks. Hardstyle now is more about many people doing the same thing and I'm hoping this will change that. Even though I wish I could I cannot teach everyone that drops a demo how they can improve that... (Although I'm giving feedback to many who are on their way but not completely there yet) I always admire young producers getting their productions to the next level as I still know how frustrating it could be to not get your sounddesign right..
