How to make a screech from a tok?

Post by Valadia »

So I've heard a theory about how you can use tok to make a screech.
I'm not really sure how to do such a thing, and I was wondering if anyone here has
any experience with it.

Thanks in advance,

why do you want to create a screech from a tok? I´d use a synth..but however, heavy timestretching should be the key, then lots of fx like distortion, filtering with resonance, chorus and whatever, and lowcut the whole thing ofcourse otherwise you´ll end up with something very noisy and dirty..just some thoughts, may work or also not, but in the end you should try and make the screech how the fuck you want and not force yourself to use certain prefixed theories and such stuff, whatever works well for you and gives you good results is fine.

I saw it somewhere on a forum, thought I might give it a try :p

EDIT:

Don't know what to say to this...

The offbeat screech in that was a fx kick, time stretched, reversed, distorted with camelphat and quadrafuzz etc.

I used to make a screetch of a kick. Many people in here said that it wasnt a screetch etc. But for me it sounded similar to a screetch (or something like a screetch)

How i created it:

1:I used fl studio and loaded drumazon 909 kickdrum. (any basic kickdrum will work)
2:Then i used camelcrusher 3x to distort the sound really gritty :p (i put the distortion knobs on max etc, and it sounded really ear wrecking)
3: Then i eq(2-3 times) to adjust the sound tone etc.(i put the eq on max etc)
4:Then i put a distortion on it again and eq it again to maximum
5:And to get different sounds i just adjust the eq and the amount of distortion ;)
And the result was this:

making an screech out of a tok sounds dumb, but making a screech out of a FX kick or overdrived 909 sounds interesting

I believe there isn't such a thing as dumb ideas.
