Future Trance nowadays? definately the wrong name

Post by Katsching »

Hey buddies

today I bought the Future Trance Vol. 67 just for fun and I haven't bought one of these samplers since the vol. 48 which was about 4 years ago. The Future Trance vol. 22 was my first cd I ever got and I was 8 or 9 years old I think because the alien on the cover looked so cool which was the only reason for the purchase.
But this cd started my musical passion and so I bought every Future Trance till vol. 48. After that I listened to hardstyle and now to industrial hardcore and Drum & Bass.

Whatever...

I'm listening to this vol. 67 at the Moment and all I can say is that this is absolute bullshit! I mean, I've got 2 CDs of pure commercial house and one CD of uncreative Hands Up. This has absolutely nothing to do with the first FT Volumes and the middle ones, I bought. Back then there was one CD full of quality Trance and a second one of classic Hands Up and hardtrance which actually fit the name of the sampler.

For all those who have been listening to Future Trance at one point of your lifes, what's your opinion of Future Trance back then and nowadays?

Nowadays it's pure crap. I used to adore these compilations in the past but today? common, they can't get any shittier. On the other hand, Dream Dance compilations got back on track. Even if they still put house music on the first cd, there's also a hands up/housy cd and a pure trance one.

Personally i own Vol. 12 :) Great variation between pure Trance and Hardtrance on this volume and lots of classics (L) Back then Future Trance deserved his name but nowadays it's a fuckin' shame to see this name get raped by putting shitty commercial House and cheap Hands Up Music on the CDs. :(

I really share your opinion. I'm not a die-hard fan of these compilations, but I used to listen some OLDER ones with much pleasure, and I'm totally shocked how it went wrong nowadays. What has big room or commercial house has to do with trance? My god...

Trance now for the most part has blended with House and other generic sounds.
The only artists I can think of that remotely sound more traditional are Patterson, Sherry (sometimes), Airbase, and some others on ASOT. It's a bit sad, even Tech Trance is blending in with it :(

And this is supposed to be trance. Hell, they know that mainstream EDM sells so they can slap any sort of name to it and know it will sell.
