Intro/Mid Intro tips and tricks topic
I thought I would make a new topic, because we haven't really got one for the Mid intro layouts and tricks.
It seems to be the most difficult part of the track.
So share your tips and tricks here, on how you made the intro/midintro by making an example, arrangement, midi, preset, screenshot etc.
Ill start
For an intro screech and a main screech I use sylenth, a lowpass with detune halfway on 1 osc and just above halfway on the 2nd osc and both saw waveforms for the stab screech with 8 voices on each, a pitchab envelope just slightly up with a bit of decay, and LFO rate 1/2t and gain just a little and pitch slightly to the right.
The long screech will have 8 Voices on each osc with pulse waveforms, both oscs will have detune about 3 1/4 detune, and a pitchab envelope with the pitch facing left, and decay with slight attack, use LFO with gain full, rate 1/4t Pitchab slightly up with a bandpass filter.
this is the arrangement
Clap for the 1st 8 beats then add a snare with a filtered kick, then add your stab screech and your long screech like this.
Clap
C-----|C-----|C-----|C-----|C-----|C-----|C-----|C-----|
Snare
S-----|S-----|S-----|S---S-|S-----|S-----|S-----|S---S-|
1st screech: stab
S---S-|S-S-SS|S---S-|S-S-SS|S---S-|S-S-SS|S---S-|S-S-SS
2nd screech: Long screech
------|------|------|------|------|------|Sccccc|cccccc|
FX Kick
------|------|------|------|------|------|K-----|K-----|
i'll put an example / midi file up later

Well, what I personally really like... Make a mid-intro, when you are done make a break with a filtered kick (you can perfect filter it with fabfilter pro-q or fabfilter simplon). In that break I like to have the exact same build-up as in the build up from the break before the mid-intro starts (well exactly it is the mid-intro already, but you got the point I think). Add some new things to this build up. When you're done copy the first part of the mid-intro but make a different melody, I like it a bit chaotic but that's our style. Gross Beat is a perfect plugin to add some effects to your mid-intro that will sound awesome! Also it's fun to play with the pitch

Nick Nieuwenhuis & Sander Nachtegaal teamed up to destroy everything on their way. Beware of some dark and raw musical beats!

For me, the best method for making an intro is what I call "sound jamming". Basically, you take a sound, slice it, transform it and eventually you will get something. For sounds, you can use everything as almost everything can be made into a screech/hardsound (call it whatever you want) with distortion, filters and all the modulation stuff. Working with synths can be difficult so the best method is to bounce a screech to audio and edit it from here.
Timestretch and pitch shift are very useful for making an intro. You can, for example, take a screech, stretch a hell out of it, slice it, put a pitch bend here and there and voila, you've got something that sounds cool (well, not always, depends on the sound
). You can also reverse the sample, apply some changes, reverse it again, stretch, pitch, apply some fx, adyadsaidsadiudiudsa and again and again. You can even put a sample into Virtual DJ, do some uber scratch, record it and you'll eventually get some nice pieces
The possibilities for making an intro are endless, just try to experiment. Distortion, filters, phasers, vibratos, I use most of this stuff in every intro of mine. It's actually the easiest part of the track for me, as you can put everything in here and it will (or should at least) work. Good luck, feel free to ask questions if you want

I recently upgraded to FL 10 and found something...
In case you already got your screech/hardsounds and you want to add glitches or sth use gross beat. You can glitch the hell out of every sound and its ubereasy to use.
Just to gather some possibilities here

I'm not too sure what you mean by slicing but as someone said before Gross beat is great and I think there is a slicing tool in Edison.RidiQless wrote:By the way, does someone know a good slicer
Plugin? since I don't use FL studio I'm searching an easy way to slice my sounds
“Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.”
Just place a clip and slice it using scissors tool or sth like that on your playlist. That's the easiest and most flexible way imo.RidiQless wrote:By the way, does someone know a good slicer
