Wasted Penguinz melodies.

Hello,

I need your help because I'm trying to recreate the emotional feelings in Wasted Penguinz melodies and I don't know why, but for each chord progression I use it never sounds like that ! I tried all the minor scales (Aeolian, Phrygian, etc...) on different root notes but it never works. And when I use the exact same chord progression of one of their tracks and I put my chords on top of it, it works ! But it sounds too much like the original track.

So do you know guys which type of scale and on which root note I have to use to recreate that typical emotional sound ?!

No seriously, if I'm asking that it's not for ripping their style ! I'm talking about Wasted Penguiz because they are the best example and all their tracks sounds emotional. I also could talk about Toneshifterz, Brennan Heart or Code Black. I just wanna learn more on emotional melodies !

What kind of answer are you looking for? There is no hidden secret to making emotional melodies that they are making. They have talent and a skill for writing melodies in that style. If you can't reproduce that feeling, it's because you don't [yet] have that skill. Learning what scale they use or copying their chord progressions isn't just a recipe for success.

Why don't you directly clone a melody of theirs and rearrange some notes to remix it, and see if you get a similar feeling?

Seriously It takes a lot of training to get your on style so I advice you to practice making melos all the time till your satisfied with the feeling you get in it ! They're no secrets except hard work !
Do you really think that mozart was making a full track like this ? It's the exact same process for hardstyle man ! There isn't a precice "recipe" to follow to make eitheir euphoric, raw, summerish hardstyle...
Another advice would be to listen really carefully to some melo your really like and try to recreate them, this way you'll see how the pros make them. But again define your own style, I'm not trying to be a bitch or anything but yeah... Hope you understand what I mean.

Thanks for your answers, it was maybe a stupid question but I was like "There is certainely a technique to choose a good chord progression". But I found something interesting in an other topic that was saying that :

yes wasted penguins only use minor scales from everything ive heard, but if you wanted you melodies to have the same effect as them you would be looking at harmonising in 3rds and whatnot. (if you have no idea what im talking about research 'musical intervals' from 'diatonic scales')
of course they dont always harmonise in 3rds from the kick, sometimes root, 5th. thats what changes the 'feel of the track
i would take a chord progression from a song you like of theirs, analyse harmonies, do exactly the same or similar in your next track. as pablo picasso once said "good artists borrow, great artists steal".
lol this doesnt mean your going to sound like your ripping them off. there is heaps more to think about in constructing meoldies like motifs, sequences (i dont feel like going into it, takes to long, research it!). these set your melodies apart from others. even using a square sorta lead instead of a generic saw, or a chord melody will instantly set you apart.
