Hey guys.
I'm a bit frustrated. I almost always manage to come up with the most euphoric breaks, build ups, climaxes, raw stuff, no problem. Always inspired to make some of that and it works out nice almost everytime I do that.
BUT
I am ALWAYS struggling with the mid intro. I have 12 project files. Fully finished, nice intro, nce break, nice buildup, climax etc. But theres a huge gap in the part between the intro and the break...
When I try to make a mid-intro, I place a kick, make a screech, add percussion. But it just doesn't run. When I listen to it I imagine a monkey eating a banana like he is not impressed. It doesn't have drive. I can't manage to get the "feel" of the track to put in the mid intro. I try to make various sounds and fill-ins, but they don't quite come out as I want them to.
I know that a lot of people on the forum are also struggling with these kind of problems, so I thought, why not make a topic. And yes, I know, there IS already a topic for that, but that is very old and nobody seems to care about that one.
Could you guys tell how you work when making a mid intro? I mean, not like yeah I use this sample or this sound, but general guidelines, what's the jam on the peanutbutter sandwich that makes the fcking sandwich complete, know what I mean?
Maybe we can share some tips and tricks, workflows etc.
bye!

It´s a good thing you have the other part done! for the feeling and atmosphere should be similar in the mid intro. listen to your climax for example and close your eyes. What do you hear and see before you? after that try creating the vision
also don´t be afraid to fail. "If you don´t fail 90% of the times you´re not trying hard enough"
Other things to do is listen to alot of differnet music. When i´m stuck i sometimes sit down and listen to film music for example, My latest thing has been the lord of the rings compositions. Which is really, really, really, really inspiering. Good luck bro! and also remember that all of us gets the "Producers block" and need to take a break sometimes!

Mid-intros are tricky indeed. I usually initialize the synth's preset (it's mostly Sylenth1 for the its simplicity or Massive, because it has so many different waveforms) and first play with the effects/envelopes/filters within the synth itself. Then I add different effects that change the sound, mostly distortion in my case, but you can also apply any synthesis here. Basically what I try to achieve with this is first to experiment with the sound and second, get to the point where I like the sound I just designed. From here on you can bounce it and then slice it, pitch it, stretch it, etc. or apply more effects. So, The way I see it, it's just exploring and experimenting and once you get that main sound for your mid-intro you just build around it and add more FX stuff to support the main sound. You can achieve a lot of FX with noise osc in Massive, but you have to add modulation.

Yeah I know. I absolutely HATE it! I have lots of inspiration, but I just can't seem to get it out. I also don't need to make a nice lead or so, or a kick, because I think I can make pretty decent leads and kicks that I can use, but my biggest problem is whatever I think of, and write that down, I can't let it come out of my goddamn brain and put that sh*t in FL studio!

Thnx for the reply!
Those are actualy some nice ideas! I had a little chat with a friend of mine (Cold Case, in case you might know him) and he told me some very useful things. I started to look for some samples I can edit and make something interesting with. I made a pretty decent mid intro today! Tnx!
