Making leads from looped sound-bits...

Post by Elektronikz »

I thought it would be neat to create a lead by taking a sample from some one singing or some random noise, looping a very small portion of it, and adding reverb and various other effects to it, it may make a neat lead. It didn't work out... Do people ever use this as a way to make synth-sounds, or would this not work no matter what? If anyone has an example of this being done, please paste a link! If anyone knows a better way to go about this, please post a reply! Thanks :D

Well, you can try detuning your samples. That might help.

I believe I've heard this in a couple of tracks. Although I'm sure there was a lot of dist added among other effects.

You've heard it in a lot more than a couple of tracks. It's done in hundreds of tracks, a sample is pitched, stretched, granulized, distorted, vocoded, filtered, resynthesized - whatever the fuck you wanna do with it.

Arkaine's Voice Of Desire - the intro sounds are distorted vocals:

Tatanka - Let's Rock(Wildstylez Remix) - he obviously used the vocal as a starting point for the mid intro lead:

It's not as if it's something that's unheard of.
