What program do you use? It sounds like there is not enough distortion or decay on the kick.

uTonic with camelphat3, izotope trash, ohmnicide and all of that. I have all the tools necessary, I just don't know where to start...

I recommend always starting off the channel fx chain with a eq, in your case it would be Fruity EQ2 (Just to boost the mids of the kick). Than after that I layer 2 distortion plug-ins and start to mold a sound in between them two. After that it's all about learning from trial and error.
Compression is key though and what a lot of people forget when making a kick is that it isn't always just eq/distort/eq/distort
You need to use compressors, noise gates, and it helps to sample your kick after you have "it".
When the kick is sampled thats when you can use channel strips and sends to model the details of the kick.
Edit: I forgot to mention utonic in my eyes has always been good for reverze basses, but for a nu-style kick I highllyyy recommend D16 Drumazon VST or Synapse Audio Hydra VST.

Yeah Get a Normal 909 kick so in that case use D16 Drumazone but u can get sure decent kicks with Utonic too i mean crpysis used Utonic for his kicks its just about right Eq and Dist so Repeat EQ>Dist>EQ>Dist sometimes u need more eq and at the end dont forgett reverb without reverb the kick will sound muddy and unclean.
the plugins u are using are ok.
justs keep practicing.
btw another kick Topic
a mod should put this in General/How-To kick topic

Imagine building a guitar and then tuning it and then playing it. That's what electronic music is.

I suggest making kicks in layers. It's possible to make a nice sounding kick with just one VST of course, but it's much more difficult, and frustrating because it requires a very delicate balancing act.
Think of the kick as being in 3 parts: the punch (or "tok"), the distorted midrange (the bass), and the sub-bass.
Since a good clean "punch" is for me the hardest part to get from scratch, just sample a basic hardstyle kick drum (like a gated kick or an EHS kick) and use its punch. Filter out the bass, and boost + distort the midrange of the punch and you'll get a nice "TOK" sound. The great thing about this is that you can do it multiple times and layer them, using EQ to meld it all together.
For the distorted midrange with a synthesizer VST (or the part that goes "ONG" or "BOING"
), EQ and distort, EQ and distort. If you're using CamelPhat, it automatically compresses the sound, so that's one step removed. Using CamelPhat's filtering/resonance along with its distortion, you'll get some nice results when you combine it with EQ. A cool trick here is to play with CamelPhat's LFO to modulate the sound of the "ONG". It all depends on the "timing" of each trick you apply here on the mixer chain, as it will change the resulting sound. The possibilities are huge.
Now since you've been playing around with the distorted midrange so much, it might be lacking in subbass, so your options are to either boost its subbass or filter out the subbass and add a simple sine wave layer with some volume enveloping (or if you really want to heat up those woofers, a square wave with filtered out highs/mids
).
This usually does it for me.

The problem is that there is only one preview on your YouTube, so it's hard to guess your exact level. If you are a beginning producer, i would recommend to watch as many tutorials as you can about producing kicks. You won't be able to produce a really good kick soon (like the big artists), but they will show you how to build a kick. It almost always takes a lot of time. Also some big artists posted some tutorials on how to tweak a kick. Just look around this forum and you will find them.

Hi, thanks for the help everyone.
@Arborza, I've been producing for quite some time but only started getting serious about it half a year ago. The rest of my songs are at http://www.youtube.com/djamethystofficial/ but I've started under a new name since then.
I have drumazon, but Its extremely complicated and I cant find any good tutorials for it. But I'm still searching. And thanks Zaxis, thats helped a lot.
