Structuring Intros

Post by ljk32 »

I have no idea whether this is due to me being a bad producer, or just lack of creativity, but I really can't even get my intros going. The sounds just don't fit together, or something just doesn't work. I aim for intros with a lot of sounds like Zatox and The R3bels- Odissea 2011, or Headhunterz-Doomed, but I can never get anything close. I always experiment different ways to organise the sounds in different orders, but it never ever works. Even with the complete intro of a track, just building up with the clap and snare, my sounds never fit in there, and I don't know how to go about structuring an intro. I listen to other songs, and they seem to just flow so easily. I probably made myself look worse than I am(I've been producing for a year), but I still struggle like hell and haven't even completed one track before. Is there any help at all you can offer? Would people say that your intros get better as you get better, in terms of creativity and structure, or that is something you can't change, and your sound design may improve, but your creativity won't.(as in, if you can't make something creative when you are an amatuer, you won't be able to later).
Sorry for all that, I hope somebody can help.

I know what you're talking about. But what didn't work for me was listening to other producers how they structered and created their intros. Once you're listening to the intros their making, you get a lack of creativity. I'm not saying that you can't improve your creativity, cause you can for sure, only thing is try not to copy pro producers, cause that will be devastating for your own music productions. Just try to make some self made samples, hear what you have, and try to make something out of it. I've been struggeling for myself with intros either, but mine are getting better and better each time. Give yourself a first try for an intro without 'many' sounds, just try to create a good intro with one or maybe 2 sounds in it. And if you've done that a couple of times, you can experiment further with your knowledge you've created in time. Here's a little preview of my 'simple' intro.
It doesn't always have to be a complicated intro to be a good intro.

I hope i've helped you a bit with this.
Cheers, Elmar.

Couldn't agree more with Nonkovic !

Once you start listening to other producers and want to build intro's with the same pro-touch to it, you will either get demotivated cause it won't sound the way you want it to or you start to think you lack the creativity..
Start making things with what you can do.. Eventually you'll learn more and more techniques and with that you will also get to organize your intro's better.

If you mean structure - 16bars percussive build with oneshot sounds, then a break and buildup of 16bars, then the midintro plays :)
Ignorance is bliss

This is what im currently working on, not done though. Hope it helps you :) I got a bit inspired by 'It Must Be - Zatox, Max Enforcer' where they give u a litte hint of the climax-melody and then they play the mid-intro.

Eq, distort, eq, distort.

@Smdeee - The hardsound? is a 3xOsc with lots of harsh EQing and distortion. And I think the synth is like 3 layers of Sylenth. Lawl, glad you like it, maybe is should start working on that project again?
Eq, distort, eq, distort.
