I have a question regarding kicks and leads in the climax, I know you have to decrease and boost certain frequencies to make your kick and lead work together but how loud should they be compared to each other? Should the kick be a bit louder? Or should the lead be louder than the kick?

I posted this in the kick topic:

I got feedback that the kick is too loud so I guess I must lower it a bit. Also I should listen to hardstyle more I think :p

Neither of the two should be leading, it just has to be right. Be sure your their not eating up each others frequency regions tho, so cut off low parts of your lead for instance :)

When it comes to mixing kick and lead together, stereo imaging plays a big role.
Centre the kick and widen the lead.

That way both can be loud and clear.

Yeah I discovered stereo imaging just recently :p And I do cut the low frequencies of the lead, but sometimes the lead uses power this way. Or if I cut some highs of the tail it loses some of it's crunch :(

dont Cut The High Freqs of the Kick just Eq them normal ,
good way to lower highs of the kick : Make a bell notch With 1k Bandthwidth at 7K frq. and slowly go down .
The Cruch of The Kick is Fix Btw If u Eq it good The Crunch stays and it should sound More controlled and fits more into the mix.

And Sometimes There is a "fake crunch" at the kick if u have way too much high freqs for example :+

Imagine building a guitar and then tuning it and then playing it. That's what electronic music is.

You should cut kicks about 12 kHz - 15 kHz. At least I do this that way. I don't lose cruch because the crunch is in 3-7 kHz but I do more space for lead. I really like to boost kick on harmonic frequencies. This can give you awesome results. But you have to remember that every pitch has different harmonic frequencies. So you'll have to change EQ on different pitch. And your kick don't have to be in mono. TOK should be a bit more in stereo and tail is fine when you widden it a bit. Kicks were in mono because on events there were speakers only in mono but nowadays most of events have got stereo sound system so it doesn't matter.

Your track should still sound good in mono as hardly anyone is at the sweet spot regarding stereo at a party ;)
