So I was browsing the release section for opinions on older tracks I love. I've noticed that some people were pretty upset about some kicks that were used in 2011 and 2012. The kicks in Zatox' Qlimax theme for instance, the one in Headhunterz' lesson in love remix or bring me down by Audiofreq come to my mind. How so? For me 2012 reinvented the genre for me, especially the kicks from that era and the ones used by Audiofreq. Btw. the mentioned tracks are still classics for me and I still listen to them regulary.
So what exactly find people weird about these mentioned kicks?

Different types of kicks not typical of the norm can tend to get negative reaction but they also garner praise. It's funny 2012 was a year I pretty much stopped listening to hardstyle. Not completely just stuck to the older tracks. I had the decibel 2012 cd and found hardcore cd to be more appealing to me.

Currently it's the ping pong kicks everyone is hating and maybe in 5 years time someone else like you will be asking the same questions.

I remember reading pure hatred for "nu-style" and why it should never be considered hardstyle.

I remember the nu-style discussions as well. Anyway for me the scene was kinda stale in 2009 ( yes even though sunblast and tonight came out) - 2010 and my dedication for it was renewed in 2011/2012. I bet you are right about some ping pong kicks, at the same time I hope you are not

What's with the huge push with sefa from Q Dance anyway? I get that he's got a big fan base but it's strange to me to have Frenchcore to be the style Q want to push, having it the style to close big hardstyle parties. If any type of hardcore dj was to be playing the end of hardstyle events I would of thought of Re-Style. He's got that uplifting bouncy energy in his music and seems to be a tempo better suited to end a Hardstyle night
