I think it's mainly due to the fact Skrillex is more popular in the US and DJ Mag is more focused or concentrated in Europe (especially the UK and Holland I think).

Anyway, it's good to see so many hardstyle artists in this list, did not expect that at all. However, Coone and Psyko Punkz in there is a fucking joke :fist:

Hm, Myon & Shane 54 is @ 66th place :fist: Nice to see these Hungarian guys in this list... BTW, I'm really suprised when I saw that HHz is in 17th place :+

Agreed, even though I don't really like his music most of the times, he is doing great things for the dance scene, so I guess his no.1 spot is well deserved. Too bad for Armin, I dig his music more (+ he's Dutch :P)

i guess the reason why almost every EDM listener (including me) dislikes him is that he got electronic music on MTV hitparades right next to Rihanna and Beyonce. For me he is simply a traitor of the family he came from (edm scene). Good for him he's famous, i don't hate him for that but i really don't want to see him ANYHOW associated with electronic music scene, it is only giving us bad name. He's a fucking pop artist.

You and your "bad name" shit, who fucking cares besides you... Dancefloors all around the world go mental when they hear his tracks, so be glad EDM is becoming global. Plus the fact his tracks are still electronic music and that he has a background in dance music, makes me wonder why there are thousands of EDM listeners (according to you) 'hate' him...

I personally agree with Ceero, but I must admit that his old tracks, before his album "Pop Life" were quite listenable, his first tracks were also nice & inventive Dance music (or maybe it's because I was 13-14 years old at the time :+ ). But anyway, he cannot do big hits himself now, he always has to collaborate with artits, even on his new double album, the more "housy" side is just full of collaborations. And all these collaborations for what ? MONEY. I'm pretty sure his love for the music has passed away, now that he gets 30k€/gig, + his nightclubs, + his shows...
I accept your point of vue, "Guetta is respectable because he's made djing famous and all this" but seriously, look at djs now and djs 20 years ago. Djs & producers didn't care about their clothes, their way of speaking, their influences and the judgement of people. Now they are all fcking commercial and does this for the style of being dj. And I'm a direct victim of this, I wanted to be a DJ when I still didn't know that music was my real passion.

But anyway, all this to say that Guetta doesn't deserves his rank.

And how did he become the role he is in now? Because he looks so good and is perfect for marketing?
I don't think that he doesn't produce himself
