No Russia - No Party.

It pretty fucked up there... Eastern Ukraine are full with russian citizens, and as Mr. Putin is telling "we will do everything to protect them and their interests". So basically that means that Ukraine should stop talking about that EU joining shit and hug Mother Russia... Ukrainiens are sick of it. This is what I got from my friends. So as I see it, there will be blood :(

This situation is quite scary. I feel for the Ukrainians but the western nations needs to calm down. A strong rhetoric against Russias actions is good and UN observators will be useful but someone needs to take the high ground here.

Also, the media really needs to clear up Crimea's position in Ukraine as an autonomous republic. The population there is 58% Russian (not that it justifies the threatening acts from Russia).

The best long-term solution from a western point of view would be dismantling Russia.

Listen this, one guy didn't get additional napkin in Mcdonald's in California cause director of that store didn't allow it, so he described him as racist and wrote a letter to Mcdonald's. Mcdonald's apologised and then offered him a bunch of free hamburgers, but the guy refused claiming he got emotional damage because of what he cannot function well at his job, so he decided to sue the company and seek 1,5 million dollars.

American tort law. _O_

Doubt any shot will be fired in Crimea. Ukraine can't do anything about it, the Russians have far more military personnel and equipment than Ukraine there. Don't think any western country dares seeking problems with Russia too.

The Russian army and navy are in bad shape compared to f.e. the American one.
However if it's worth risking soldiers for, one can debate, although I guess if the US were to send their carriers and UK+France would do the heavy lifting it'd be a smaller problem.

Yes, the Russians are nothing against the NATO. But right now, it's a Ukraine vs. Russia thing. Ukraine probably isn't stupid enough to start fighting Russia, as Russia outnumbers Ukraine in every aspect possible. Other than financial repercussions, I don't see the West do anything to punish Russia. Weaker or not, it's still a giant superpower (with atomic bombs and stuff, too) which nobody feels like fighting. Also: fighting Russia sucks for EU. Lots of gas and stuff...

This is bad though. With Russia effectively being in control of Crimea, Ukraine having not a chance to do anything about it and with the west's lack of interest in fighting Russia, this might be a very slow process...

But Putin... That man's a clown.
