When corona started being a thing, I thought the new 30-45 minute sets thing was only because of the livestreams, and the original 60 min set lengths were gonna be reintroduced when parties started again.. well apparently not? Fuck 30 minute sets, makes sets even more predictable and leaves absolutely zero room for unique tracks in dj sets. Acts will just play their 5-6 of their hits and 1 or 2 new tracks and the 30 minutes will be over. :\ completely stupid if you ask me.

Edit: inb4 people start saying 'but now they can be creative, do quick mixing, and stash a lot of tracks and mashups in those 30 minutes so it will still be a very interesting 30 minutes' - out of 100 hardstyle dj's there are gonna be 2 of them that are actually gonna do that.

Idk if I'm becoming salty because I'm getting older but I just can't stand 30 minute sets.

Yeah it's silly to expect anything within the Hardstyle scene on that front (in general, not EVERY Hardstyle DJ is lazy behind the decks don't get me wrong)

Why are you saying this? Because of Reverze? They've always been 30-45mins, or at least shorter than average sets on any other party ;)

And besides, why does it even matter? 30 minutes or 60 minutes of the same boring shit over and over again? Same shit, different DJ

I don't find most of nowadays hardstyle boring shit, so i'd rather have 60 minutes of music than 30. And it allows for more diverse tracklists because of longer time.

It's not only Reverze, it's been like this on a lot of parties that happened lately. Shockerz being just one example of them.

I think the main problem is that hardstyle the way it is nowadays doesn't offer room for creative mixing at all. Like, how else could you possibly mix a modern hardstyle tracks other than to mix the first 16 snare bars into the finishing track or do not even bother with mixing aka just hit play when the previous track finishes (like many incl SZP or Brennan seem to do it these days)? I'm all up for creative mixing but you need to have creative music for creative mixing first of all.

But anyway, I agree with you. I think the short sets are the symptom of the same thing as the 3 minutes long tracks and that is that the nowadays tiktok generation has the attention span of a goldfish

Spotify does play a big part in that too. Playlists and streaming in general changed pretty much every popular genre.
