yea, i remember this together with FDAU by Isaac being the first contact i had with the harder styles and also together with "España es de puta madre" one of the cringiest lyrics to hear as a spanish speaker lmao

And i think people are way mad with Armin van Buuren than Tiesto for leaving trance, Tiesto really does not care at all while Armin runing the whole scene but without being involved at all lol

I honestly don't blame Showtek for not "returning" to Hardstyle, given the state of the audience and sound anymore. I keep seeing posts on here and the subreddit hoping for a Euphoric resurgence. Showtek would be perfect to bridge that gap between HARDstyle and Euphoric/Melodic, like DB&STF. But even with their fame for the old heads in the scene, I don't think they would make as big of a splash as some would hope. The crowds still crave that Saw Raw sound, with the Gearbox crew, Rebelion, Vertile, and the Aggressive crew pretty much blazing that trail. (I'd even go as far to say that Rebelion and The Gang are in the same realm as Showtek in terms of crowd popularity and release popularity).

Unless they would come forward with something truly revolutionary, I don't see them returning as a regular production/DJ duo. They had their time, both as Showtek and their various side projects like Duro, Walt, and Southstylerz. I would hope that if they do return, they spearhead a potential return to the cheesy Melodic (nu)style they were most well known for. It would be nice, since there is now a niche being built among producers online creating true Classic/Nustyle, and inspired tracks.
Don't forget either that their final releases before their "departure" were a bit more negatively received, and nowhere near as memorable as their releases prior to Analogue Players In A Digital World.

Man, they even had a a set at Sensation Black 2006 where they invited "Mr. Puta" on stage, cause Puta Madre alone was such a big thing reaching people outside of hardstyle. Their albums were highly anticipated as well as their single releases. Huge forerunners for the scene and way bigger than Headhunterz until a certain point.
I was there for that, crowd went fucking nuts lol. I was never the biggest Showtek fan but that liveact (Think it was a Showtek Live performance rather than DJ set?) was awesome

'progressive hardstyle' sounds super interesting. If there is something what current hardstyle is missing a lot it's a bit of progressiveness. Let's hope whatever this will be (a new collab alias? new album?), it will mean a bit longer, less drop oriented tracks you can actually vibe to.

Thomas Duddridge, aka The Anarchist, died of natural cause.

The Prophet
With intense pain in my heart and deep sadness I share the news of the passing of my dear, close friend and exceptional producer Thomas Duddridge who died of natural causes.

Words cannot express the profound impact he had on me as a true friend, as my producer and on the Hardstyle and Hardcore music scene in general for the last 10 years.

For those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with Thom, you understand the exceptional character and immense talent that made him a force to be reckoned with. Thomas was not only a producer; he was a true visionary who revolutionized Hardstyle and Hardcore with his unique kicks and innovative approach to music. His creativity and unwavering dedication pushed boundaries, inspiring countless artists and captivating the hearts of fans worldwide, including each and every one of you.

Throughout the time we intensely worked together, Thom and me tried to break through barriers with constantly evolving the Hardstyle and Hardcore sound. His contributions continue to resonate not only through his music that is dear to us, but also in the hearts and minds of aspiring artists who look to him as an inspiration.

Let us remember the joy, energy, and passion that Thom brought to our lives. It is through his music that he will forever live on, providing solace, strength, and motivation for generations to come.

During this difficult time, it is essential that we offer our support and love to Thom's family, friends, each other and fellow collaborators. Let us stay together as one united force, remembering our friend and celebrating the indelible mark he left on our lives through his music.

Let us continue to honor Thom's legacy by keeping his music alive and spreading his message of love, passion and unity through the power of music.

Thomas, I was lucky enough to have known you so well and to have shared the long nights with too much alcohol, smoking, deep and interesting discussions and talks, sarcastic fun, cries and laughs and I will cherish all those great moments my dear friend.

With profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude,
Dov
