Dear fans,

As we are now a few weeks into 2020, we are happy to bring you another update about Willem. This coming weekend, Willem will perform for the first time in a month in Finland, and the following week in Thailand. Gradually, he is getting ready to perform more and more again.

Willem will return to social media in a relaxed manner in the coming weeks and is budgeting a lot of his time in 2020 for studio work only, as well as finding a new balance between work and private life. There will be fewer shows in 2020, but new music is undoubtedly coming.

Team Headhunterz would like to thank you for all the kind words, support, and understanding that you have all shown. Thank you, Hardstyle Family.

Kind Regards,
Team Headhunterz

Good for him to just take a step back, calm down on shows and produce music for a while. I remember a interview shot at Schiphol last summer and he said something around the lines of (related to his China gigs) 'gotta smelt the iron when it's hot' and that he would regret it later if he didn't, like, 'take his chance' while the Asian trend is big and the fees are high. He continued saying he misses being home and producing music more often, and wants to go back to those roots soon. Seems like he kind of unconsciously saw his burnout coming. Happy about this message. Sometimes you have to take a step back.

People would be complaining if he didn't say anything probably. It's a lose lose situation.
But imo, I think it's good he's showing this side because people don't know this side of fame. And it's a real shame they don't. And it's not like he's shoving it down our throats like some people will. To my understanding, it was stated he was backing off from socials, his management gave us updates that were too the point and not drawn out. It has the feeling of "hey, btw, this is happening" instead of being some big dramatic thing. I know this was also brought up at Qlimax when he played that one track, but I don't see a problem with it. Music is made to express emotions, he's expressed that's what his music is supposed to do, completely natural and normal to do something like that. Also, I didn't see anyone complain when Radical Redemption did something similar later the same night. People just complained about when Headhunterz did it. A bit hyprocritical.
(btw, I'm not some sort of fanboy, because in general, I don't even like his music that much. I'm just someone who can appreciate someone showing the other side)

Joey has a way more positive mindset battling his problems. A stronger overall personality than Headhunterz. He didn't say anything the whole year, only something at the end of his show and ended the speech with 'its not over until you win'. I like people with that Malice - Stronger attitude. Also produced an insane track regarding his father - i had shiverz hearing that load of emotions which went in to that. People see and respect this.

The fans do not believe everything Willem says. He is not fooling them but goes way over the top with it. I sometimes have the feeling that he just needs one person in his life that loves him the way he is.

Everyone has different ways of battling problems yet i'd always try going the 'Stronger' way at some point.

this. Also for me it was good confirmation that he is even coming to finland, because event organizers didn't say anything.

People are going to have criticisms about Headhunterz and his way of publically handling his mental health issues, but at the end of the day all that him and his team is doing is just updating his fanbase. He is very brave for coming out so publically about it, because from personal experience bringing up things like that just tends to make others around you uncomfortable and just want to push you away because you're not "normal". :)
