[16/11/2024] Qlimax [NL]

Post by Pkay »

2014 was my first edition, and I haven't missed a edition since. It's such a shame to see Qlimax go.
Qimax has been a insane journey and truly a one of a kind event.
Let's close it down with one last insane ritual 💪🏼
Qlimax: '14,'15,'16,'17,'18,'19,'22,'23 - HB: '15,'17 - Q-Base: '17 - Defqon.1: '16,'17,'18,'19,'22,'23 - Return of Hhz: '17 - Dediqated: '20 - X-Qlusive Holland: '22,'23 - Mysteryland: '22,'23 - Freshtival: '23 - Hardfest: '24 - D4L '24 - Intents: '24

Q-Dance is owned by ID&T which is owned by Superstruct which is owned by KKR :+
that last one is an investment group that recently acquired them all, people are talking that they want to detach the Q branding from Defqon and leave it as a "standalone" festival a-la Tomorrowland
Amperial wrote: 26 Jul 2024, 07:05 They already struggled against raw and couldn‘t match versus art of dance. However art of dance and the whole scene, supremacy etc became repetitive too.
I agree, Q dance started to "change", but their fuck-ups outweight the "good" changes by far, Supremacy has been having a predictable and boring lineup too, but still sells out far quicker than any Q event because raw hype, Q couldn't take advantage of it and in fact the closing of Qapital just gave away they have no idea what they're doing and seem to be out of touch with the scene

Q dance has not had any new concept like a cheaper event or whatever, its the other way around, they're charing more for shitty new concepts inside Defqon (the theatre), other organisations arent exactly innovating but they offer samey experiences for a cheaper price, it was the adapt or die game, and we know how it ends

Wow, what a sad day for the genre. As many others, my love for this music was also linked to Qlimax and it’s always been a dream for me to attend one day. Maybe I’ll do this year…

i tought y'all would be happy to see this end as is, than seeing it become generic raw event N° 13 to be profiable

And i doubt they're closing because profit anyways, or that this has to be related to their recent aquisition, they've been killing their flagship events for years now, even before covid, to me its sounds like they lost it, any creative or straight lead to a clear vision, thats a good thing tbh, competition raises and they take away the monopoly from them, lets see how the scene crumbles
What the heck is wrong with you?

I am really surprised that they actually end Qlimax and it is hard to grasp to be honest. I mean there are more events now than ever but not in that scale. All the big festivals seem to disappear or change (on the Q-Dance side). Sure labels like AR or promoters like Musical Madness are able to host great parties but I doubt that they will ever reach the state of events like Qlimax, Q-Base, etc. Man, this is crazy.

We’re all attached to Qlimax because of nostalgia, but it could be the start of new innovative events :) Let’s stay positive!

This (I guess) sarcastic remark.

The "finally it took them a while" is sarcastic
The thing that i thought most people here would prefer to see qlimax end than being forced to go full raw to be profitable is not sarcastic hehe

Yeah, not surprising, those investors have their hands in every industry they can anyway, infinite money to invest most likely :dunno:

U expect Q to bring new events?.. They just on the way to closing Q-dance.. already started a new B.V. for Defqon..
They just gonna focus on Defqon as that was the only event that bring in the big money..
Thats how american companies work.. money money money.
Qapital didnt bring in enough, Qlimax didn't bring in enough, XQ didn't bring in enough so they just quit it.
