[16/11/2024] Qlimax - The Final Prophecy [NL]

Post by M3dia »

Agree on a lot of points here, but I actually thought these pre-mixed 20min sets without DJs were really nice because they synched the music perfectly to prepared visuals. Obviously up in the crowd that's barely noticeable but if you're further back it looked awesome.

Enjoyed the shorter sets as in DJ's had to actually prepare (pre-mix?) rather than just 45-60mins of random mixing (some better, some worse). But I agree on that it seemed like Q told everyone to play a throwback set. Back in the days Defqon and Qlimax were THE events to show new music, but it shifted away from that years ago. For this being the last edition I liked to hear all these "oldies" / classics but yeah, having new(er) stuff is always nice.

Worst set for me was NC (performance, new tracks are rather "meh" for me) and Coone (track wise not my taste).
Really enjoyed Wildstylez, SZP and D-Sturb (solo part).
Unfortunately missed TNT - read a lot of positive reactions on it.
Ending with Sefa and Peacock was really not it for me, but I respect everyone who likes frenchcore :D

Stage was awesome for my taste but the lack of decoration was a bit of a bummer. Light show overall great.

As for being the last edition I thought it was nice to have some of the great DJ intros / show parts of older editions. If it wasn't the last edition, that would've been a big no-no tho :D

Overall pretty decent Qlimax, but nothing that special for me.

D-sturbs 20min solo was so damn good though. Apocalyptic darness, ANCIENT, and that new track.. _O_

He was there (Headhunterz). Just in the crowd. Multiple people saw him. :)

True, someone on reddit pictured him from a distance while he was chilling with Wildstylez and 50% of W&W.. and people are complaining ‘if he’s there anyways why not just play’ people just can’t leave the guy alone and accept he doesn’t want to be on stage anymore

Think most now realize why this is the last qlimax
They lost it, now imagine this concept going on for how many years until you're tired of just an ok event and not the unforgettable magic it was

That's why i said good thing is dead now than seeing it become Supremacy 2.0, you'd be way mad lmao

gotta add that those first sets really made realize how good and magical euphoric/nustyle is .. normally i also listen to xtra raw by now as i find the older stuff boring
.. but everyone singing and humming along again, everyone smiling to the ones next to them got me hooked again. especially the both first sets were so good, jesus.

I had the best time and I'm actually really happy with how the music turned out. I pretty much enjoyed the whole night. Would've preferred another hardcore act instead of an hour of frenchcore but I was okay with it. Really nice stage theme and good vibes in the crowd. Qlimax and Defqon got me hooked on Hardstyle and I've been a visitor since over a decade. It's so sad to see it go. The memories will last. :)

back home, in the end the "qdance logic" won again.
overall was still a good qlimax
but i want to understand what's in the mind of who organize the whole show and make decisions.
what i thought about a last qlimax concept was: put all anthem makers in the line up as much as possible(if not, just choose someone else that was part of this event at least 2 times), give them 30 mins or whatever is possible with timing, let them open with the anthem from that specific year, starting from the first editions, then playing a set related with the best tracks of that specific year(years), prepare intros with old qlimax highlights and sounds, prepare a tribute to ruffian.

so starting with 2000/2004 era, then 2005,2006,2007 08 09 etc. closing with millenium hardcore and yea peacock style.

btw, didn't like some sets just because it was like 30 second track and then cut down to put another track (but this problem is in the whole scene)
- i noticed something with the console, both wildstylez and coon have the same problem with the mixer cutting the lows for some seconds...strange
- don't know why act of rage/dsturb/rebelion were there, i respect and like them but, wtf? can't understand.
-best set hands down to zany luna deepack, TNT, DBSTF, SUBZERO,MAD DOG,BRENNAN, cool also wildstylez and coone but just because of the tracks, don't like the short second tracks.
the whole music was not as expected, no full anthems played, some meh sets

stagewise yes it was on pointwith the theme, i miss that 3d effect, it was like flat in the wall even if good.

so at this point the last qlimax was inevitable because they are no longer able to do it in a proper way, its better to organize a whole new indoor event that showcase the best hard music of the year withouth thinkking about the narrative or the hall of fame of hardstyle and who deserve it more

last moment with our church was emotional. i will fucking miss the hype and the whole qlimax concept just like i miss the hardbass concept, both these events were the reason why this music reached some levels and it was the fuel for producers and people that love this genre
QLMX 11',12',13',14',16',18',19',23' | HARDBASS 12',16' | QBASE 13' | XQLUSIVE LEGENDS 14' | DEDIQATED 20' | ASOT1000 23' | DQ1 23'

I don't and may never understand why this was the last qlimax. Other than the kids don't want it. There were quite a few in the chat make that abundantly clear. Money drives the world. I haven't seen anything deeper than that. It's not that there's no hype or no more stories to tell or no more crazy visuals to push or not more music new and old to stand as the pinnacle of events in the genre. Just kids are throwing more money at gearbox. I too do hope that VWAB fills the void, can you imagine how salty people will be.

I already mentioned it in my post, and have said it before, plus, Qlimax wasnt selling out anymore (this one did solely cuz "final edition"), even you guys were complaining about the recent editions, Q is out of touch with what the scene wants, they want to appeal to everyone but with the wrong acts, timetables, its just not a "money rules" problem, they can't keep pushing this concept anymore, they said it themselves so i dont get whats hard to see

Its so easy to blame and point fingers at everyone and everything else, some just don't want to admit Q-Dance is the true culprit and im sooo tired of it tbh
