also, take a kick you like from an existing track and analyze it in your DAW. it helps as well.
Cheers mate!

A true noob question.

What is it that making my kick getting this waveform ? The character, sub, layering?

Your equalizing and compression.

I think it is the sub mainly. At least a sub looks quite like it, but your character is similar as well :)
But i can't go wrong with phase canceling :D (i mean the one that occurs when you layer two sound 'waves') :D

When you pitch your kick. Should the note in the melody that hits be the same as the key of the kick? Like when my kick pitches up it is in A key. So do I make sure the melody at that time is in A?

Do you know any tutorial for that? Searched a lot but not found a tutorial that showed me to make this Special sound im looking for :?

Hey Everyone,

Been working on a kick the last 2 weeks and finally have a tone I am somewhat happy with that utilizes 5 layers.

My question is, what type of further processing is typically done to get those final touches to the final bounced version of the kick? I am assuming compression (can you also recommend a compressor) and some slight EQing perhaps? Maybe some verb? These are all assumptions, but wondering if someone can point me in the right direction as I feel like no matter how much I keep tweaking I cant get that final polish...

Any thoughts?

DO yu have any tips in this regard?

I tend to use EKS-9 for my 909s so I am pretty sure the root sample is as solid as I can get it?

Let me know!
