Re: Filter distorted hypersaw-lead in Virus TI?
Mine also had the clipping artifacts. The only thing I changed (which made it more clean, I think?) was turning Oscillator 3 all the way to the right/up. I tried blending it with 4 different layers, like he did and this is my result.
Made a midi for anyone who's interested in trying out the lead

Also my own little remake using sylenth1

I did this too but it didn't really change anything.Emperact wrote:Mine also had the clipping artifacts. @Jontah i've studied a bit more about that Inflator plugin and I was wrong, it actually isn't a limiter (thought it was some kind of limiter) but it's a unique plugin developed by Oxford.
anyway, What I'm thinking now is that he definitely has some post processing going on somewhere (that you can't see in the vid) perhaps he didn't even want people to see. He may have had a send channel linked to the lead bus or something or could have had realtime hardware compression sent to the bus like someone said. But I think he most likely does a lot of finalizing on the audio of the lead itself after he records it from the virus, I think he mentioned that somewhere in the video so that's why it doesn't straight away sound as smooth.

Purpose, thou art the compass.
I agree with Soundphase, it's quite obvious he did more than just recorded that lead and slightly edited it.
Since everyone here started posting their own remakes I had to give it one proper try. This time I tried to remake the whole lead instead of just 1 layer and with only sylenth1 but Idk... I didn't relisten to the original track at all during the process so the outcome isn't that similar at all.
edit: Oh I fucked up especially at those pitch-bends, oh well whatever.

EDIT: Set the Volume OSC (in the easy section) to +30
Should solved the problem with the cutoff clipping

are u sure that it's the volume OSC that needs to set to +30? I've tried that but did still clip :/Pavilon wrote:3 different Virus settings: http://www21.zippyshare.com/v/48363547/file.html

to you others: any guess on how to make it NOT clip in the post processing?
EDIT: oh pavilon, you only linked a midi file, nothing else..?

Yes it works Fine.
And The mid file are The virus Patches.
Copy it to your virus Order

Really the +30 OSC volume didn't do the trick for me.. kind of clipping anyways :/

When I watch the video he's got it all the way up on the Volume OSC section (so there's all the way to the left to the saturation part). Not +30 like you said. Surely this smoothens the clipping, since less saturation/distortion is applied.Pavilon wrote:3 different Virus settings: http://www21.zippyshare.com/v/48363547/file.html

But really.. how does he soften up the sound? It doesn't sound like its clipping for him at all, eventhough there's massive amount of saturation (got the exact same settings in my virus ti). Still not close. Tips?
