Hey, this question may not excatly be releated to the distance but it is related to the monitors and i didnt want to open a new topic. Is it normal for studio monitors to make sound similar to white noise, while they are just turned on or should there be silence? Both of my speakers make this noise no matter where they are plugged in: in the extension board, with and without soundcard or directly in the plug.

that happens for me too, (but only in my right monitor for some reason :? ) but anyway, it has to do with the quality of the cables that you are using to connect your monitors to the soundcard. I got two cheap XLR cables off ebay and cause they were cheap i get some static disturbance.. but it doesn't bother me

Imagine building a guitar and then tuning it and then playing it. That's what electronic music is.

that's interesting, you guys all mentioning the soundcard connection but i just moved my monitor to another room (i thought it was a ground loop) and the only cable was the power cable and i could still hear it. On the other hand the noise is always the same volume no matter how loud or quiet speaker settings are. Btw the speakers are KRKs VXT6.

Most likely interference from the power net. Are the power outlets in your house connected to the protective earth? If not, that could be the problem. Also, unshielded and unbalanced cables can cause this.
I'm grumpier than you.

Do people even read these?

if anyone wants to know.. i fixed that static noise problem with my monitors, the problem was that a fuse on
Image
one of those things was loose (connected to the plug on the right monitor - the one i was having noise problems with)
so i just took out the fuse and put it in again and now i can't hear any static unwanted noise
