Re: General purpose thread
5. I like vocals breaks and I hope for more. I also really vocal trance most of the time so to see it in hardstyle tracks as well makes me happy

Most of the time it's chilling ambient or trance, to reduce the stresslevels for the dj's.andzon wrote: 3. Also something I always wondered is what is playing in DJs headset; the next track they are going to mix in?

5. these are really hit or miss. either the vocals add something to the track, or completely ruin an otherwise-awesome song. the latter is much more frequent. I would absolutely love to have an instrumental mix of Break the Spell (and a handful of other songs), even though its not gonna happen.

Could I have some more advice on headsets please? For listening at home but also some you wouldn't be feeling weird with walking down the street.

No, cause still the producer/DJ produces for him/theirselves so in general the style of that certain producer is kept. But theres a but: Labels got their own taste, and so has the boss who can say "change this or that" and the mastering also gets done by the label in general. So the label can do influence the style of a certain producer but in general the style stays the same.andzon wrote:1. Do labels have like a folder every signed artist can take kicks, synths etc. from? You see an artist join a label and BAM he sounds like everyone else on that label.
This synthesizer is called a "pad", a smooth synthesizer without much detune and a lot of reverb (Detune is the sharpness I would say, dunno how to explain it, maybe YT it and reverb is echo.)andzon wrote:2. What's the background noise called in a track? Those under-notes or whatever you put in to get a better drive.
Yes.andzon wrote:3. Also something I always wondered is what is playing in DJs headset; the next track they are going to mix in?

Depends of the tracks (and people who listen to). Break the spell, imo, is a perfect example of a good quality "cheesy" track.andzon wrote:
5. Does wannabe-mainstream-cheesy-vocal breaks make you want to dance or vomit? DBSTF's new remix of Young Ones for instanceor Da Tweekaz - Break The Spell. Seems to be a growing direction producers are going. Do you true hardstylers really like that or is it possibly to attract people from other genres?

There's definitely something special about hardstyle from 2006-2010....
