Skinrush
Dear followers,
as you might have noticed, it was pretty quiet on our social medias the last months.
Over more than two decades we both dedicated our lives to Hardcore music. We started to hear and love it back in 1994 and started with producing at the end of the last century.
We always wanted to contribute something to this scene, becoming a part of it and we both worked so hard to be good enough with our own productions, to release on a major label.
Which finally became reality in 2017. Since then we had so many awesome experiences, met so many great people, had a gig at an event where we produced the anthem for, released a lot EP's, collaborated with some awesome producers and even released a full solo album at the end of 2020!
Being a music producer also means a lot of sacrifices but throughout all those years, we always felt the same motivation, passion and fulfillment for what we are doing.
But, time doesn't stand still forever. Things change and so do priorities, beliefs and convictions. After putting a whole year into completing the album, the motivation and the conviction to continue making hardcore vanished. This wasn't overnight, but a slow burning process and there are different reasons for that!
First would be that the Skinrush project already started to become different in 2018. Since then, the most parts on the productions was handle by me (Martin).
The second reason would be that Hardcore music in general just took a path the last years (and still is), which doesn't match our vision or what we feel like and love to produce. We can be grateful that we are signed to a label Enzyme Records , which doesn't follow recent trends and always supported us and our vision of Hardcore. But besides that, it just became demotivating to spend so many time in the studio to produce what you love to produce but it in the end....it doesn't get the recognition, because what you do, simply doesn't match the "Zeitgeist" of the current scene. That being said, as a producer you have two choices, swallow that fact and live with it, or change the way, or your vision of what you want to produce. Now, there are so many awesome producers in the HC scene which constantly change their sound....that gives them fulfillment and that is of course awesome! But regarding me, i can't do something seriously if i don't stand 100% behind of what i'm doing.
The third main reason (which is resulting out of everything mentioned above) is that I feel, that my time has come to move on...exploring new territories and broaden my artistic horizon.
Therefore and from now on, I'll focus on a completely different genre. Something which always was my second love besides Hardcore and that is cinematic/orchestral music. The last months I spend a lot of time studying and trying stuff in the studio and i suddenly feel that passion and fulfillment again which i want and need when spending time in the studio. This shows me that I made the right decision for now and that i'm ready to embark on a new journey!
Hardcore music and the Skinrush project will always have a special place in our hearts and so will all the achievements we made since we started this journey. Maybe someday, the hunger and passion for making hardcore comes back again who knows....but for now, we will close this chapter!
In the end, we want to thank you all so much for supporting us during all those years. We know that you always loved what we did and that you would have supported us also in the coming years. We hope that you understand our decision!
Peace out and take care
Martin/Jan

Shame because i liked many of the tracks the guys produced the last couple of years :( But yeah if you don't have enough exposure with your own style and you don't want to follow the uptempo hype to stay relevant as small "number" within the scene it's perhaps better to quit.

That is a sad development. The uptempo is not really to my taste either, we will see how many artists that leave or migrate to the new hype.

Mad Dog will release an EP consisting of tracks in the 144-165 BPM range called "Downtempo". I really hope it'll be as good as the title and description suggests.

Seems like a shitstorm surrounding Negative A by someone spreading some awful rumours and bullshit.

as much as this could be awesome, I really think its poor form to ask all your fans for money for music you haven't made yet

no chance I will support this, even though I'm sure I will want the vinyl if it ever happens, its a shame to see such legends reduced to this, surely another label will back them or they can raise funds by other means to start their own thing....
