Then you can use some compressors/expanders or simply take the punch and tail and tweak it with the volume fader. But for example if the tail is too short because it fade out too early add a bit more decay to the kick in drum machine like Drumazon or EKS-9.

My issue is usually that either my punch is muddy and fits or its waaay too loud. The only thing that I've tried to fix it with is a limiter and that worked but the punch just lost sooo much power :O

Either make your kick out of one piece or make your kick and bass separately and make sure they won't overlap ;)

you can hear the kick makes a diffrent sound after 2 second and it keep doing that in some parts of the melody
what is the problem I think it's not the kick it self because with other synth and stuff it doesnt do that

So, this is my latest track -

Referencing it on my headphones or my monitors, the distorted kick sounds completely fine, but when I listen to it on my home cinema system, all I hear is sub bass(from the woofer standing at the back), and a distant "WRAAANG", with no clear/apparent distorted mids. What am I doing wrong? What should I look for in my mix to make sure that my kick comes off clear?

Also, Darycka, you mention the fact that you should alway bounce leads, kicks and screeches(and more important stuff)when mixing down. Does this mean that I shouldn't EQ those components when making the actual track?

Hi,

Do professional hardstyle producers use compressors in their tracks? Do you guys use compressors too and on which track? (screeches, leads, vocal, percussion etc).
Which compression do you prefer and what kind of settings do you mostly use.

Isn't compression kind of essential in EDM production? To my knowledge, without compression, you'll never get the pumping, loud, aggressive music that hardstyle is, or any aggressive EDM for that matter.

On top of that, compressing the sub bass is basically a rule of thumb. You need a static/straight waveform when creating the sub bass. Kicks are what the crowd moves to, so - at least the sub bass of the kick - has to be consistent in order for people to move to the beat rhythmically.

Short answer is: yes, always use compression. On which tracks? Now that's up to you, but the sub bass should always be compressed, so AT LEAST use it on the kick-track.

You obviously have no clue about what you're talking about.

Yes, they use it. I, as an amateur, use it on almost everything. Screeches, claps, cymbals(percussion) and on leads. I use fabfilter pro-c and the standard compressor plugin in cubase. What settings? It depends on how you want to compress and what you want as an end result. There is no perfect setting ;)

I highly recommend you to read this:
