Yes, Sylenth 1 is amazing for making melodies or any kind of leads, pads, basses and screeches for that matter. If you wanna learn about synthesis, you should actually learn it on Sylenth 1 (at least I did). It is very easy to use. Once you learn, what oscillators, filters, lfos,... do, you will know how to use every synth, just knobs will be different. If you are in some more complex basses though, there is Native Instruments Massive, which is, well, massive
This thing makes mircales too and it is also good for FX. But it is not the easiest synth, especially for the beginner.

You should also check out Zebra 2. For me it was a lot easier to make really fat leads with it than with Sylenth 1 and the layout of it is a lot more user friendly imo but then again its all up to personal preference.

Sylenth1 is overrated, and I haven't tried Zebra 2, but my recommendations are:
Z3ta, for melodic stuff like leads, pads, etc.
Synth1 & 3XOSC, which have low CPU usage, are free & sound nice.
Marvin Pavilion's site has some great drum synths, including a VST dedicated solely to emulating a 909 kick.
Sophia, a very interesting VST plugin which is hard for me to explain just how nice it is. I has high CPU usage, however, so I recommend sampling down the results.
Hope that helps.

Yes, I know Sylenth is nice, but I find it sort of limiting. That's all.ljk32 wrote:It isn't as if it's a bad synth.Kisha wrote:Sylenth1 is overrated
