[16/11/2024] Qlimax - The Final Prophecy [NL]

Post by Emre »

Yeah the lack of new tracks is real but tracks like I See Stars fit perfectly at Qlimax imo, that was one of the highlights of watching the stream for me :+ or the Licht Uit remix, magical

Well, that was Qlimax. I’ve flown over from the US to NL in 2013, 16-19, 22, 23, and now 24. My favorite editions were 2017 and 2023, where I feel like Qlimax picked up again after a very lackluster 2022.

I’m sad to see it go. The ending was very sad, I even felt for Villain during the closing. It was truly a one of a kind party. I just wish they’d kept this Qlimax like the others with 45 min to 1 hr sets. It was insane how many new artists kept coming on. Hard to keep track of everything. But I’m also glad the artists who are so important to the scene were honored at the last ever Qlimax.

Best sets were TNT, B-Front/Phuture Noize, Adaro, Mad Dog, and Dr. Peacock. D-Sturb also fucking rocked it. I loved the Hhz tribute- I’m glad we got to hear his words but wished he was there.

And Live Forever live, at Qlimax, with the lights, sound system, animations… Oh. My. God. Perfection. That’s hardstyle.

When I was going through hard times, I always had Qlimax to look forward to. Thank you for the memories, the experiences, and for letting me and my friends dance our fucking hearts out. Goodbye ❤️

Musical wise it was a pretty average display. Really looked like a end of a road. Some names like Zatox, Showtek, G4H or Ruffian (at least forcthe classic set) should be there. I think they will come with something new, i saw a dark star as a new element, and they said something like they will bring something new in the farewell speech.

I am back home and I gotta say that I liked this edition, even though I didn't really like the whole set structure. It just felt weird to have so many artists there. The stage was amazing and it was great to hear so many classics though.

i'm also back now and in my opinion it's been a good farewell to qlimax. of course it was not perfect (too many artists, sefa peacock act of rage lol, some others missing), but the stage was awesome, the feeling was awesome, the costumes were awesome and there were just so many singable and shoutable tracks and not just the modern kick fests, i loved that. oh and i met marcel from deepack which was nice, too. :D

it was kind of heartbreaking before leaving to take a last look at the stadium as it felt like that a chapter of my life is getting closed after 16 years in this. but qlimax will live on in our hearts .. :G

So and no one made a proper Qlimax track tribute. Just Udex made it :dunno:

Ok Qlimax but not the best ending for a chapter for sure.

Got back home too. This might be an unpopular opinion: Q really dropped the ball on this one. Okay, but nothing outstanding especially for a last edition.

The "tribute" mixes were really weird, you dedicate a ~20min segment without booking the actual artist. WTF
Last 3-4 hours felt more like a re-run from the previous two years.
Closing with 'Our church' was just cringe.

The day after Qlimax always meant 2 pages of new shit in the unreleased tracks section. I can't fucking believe Coone was the only one bothered to make a Qlimax farewell tune. I was expecting nothing short of everyone playing on the night to make something special for that night. Not sure if that was just lazy or they were purposedly going for 'throwback vibes only' here, but the screaming lack of new music expect like literally ~5ish tunes throught the entire night was just disapointing :/ Instead they jammed like 30 djs into one night, gave everyone a 20 min slot and had them play premixed mashup 'sets' of consisting of like 15 tunes each. Well, I guess it must have been 'nice' to be there in person, but musically it was just disapoinint imo

Definitely going for throwback vibes. Actually, it was so well done that I really enjoyed hearing the newer stuff on the livestream to the point that this party could really spark a new found love for hardstyle. Of course there was that swiss guy and quite a few people who just can't accept older music in the chat but just closing the chat was enough to really enjoy it. There is no other party like this i think that can really take listeners on a journey like that. Best set: Mad Dog
