[18/11/2023] Qlimax: Enter The Void [NL]
The Enlightenment was life saving for me <3
So beautiful and classy
I honestly liked everyone this year - all did great things. Showtek very enjoyable imo. Hard Driver really nice and good to see people playing some classics that fit the event.

Blademasterz, Showtek, TNT and Devin Wild had the best sets of the night. Shout out Deepack and the Shadow Priests too, great sets
Was not fully sold on The Enlightenment tbh and I say that as a Phuture Noize fanboy, Destination Unknown hasn’t been topped or matched by any of the other new tracks.
I actually enjoyed Warface and Hard Driver quite a bit, didn’t care much for Vertile and surprisingly kinda disliked the Deadly Guns set which sucks as I would consider myself a fan of his stuff.
The lightshow and stage design were super good this year which is always a nice plus
Overall I had a great experience I gotta say, was worth going all the way there
EDIT: oh and I still don’t get why they push their Qreator thing so much, fucking useless, book someone else or add some time to the new 45-minute-set standard pleaaase

This opinion is just by watching the stream, so it might not be the most accurate one, but this years version kinda felt like it was just another event and not Qlimax.
Devin Wild was hands down the best. Showtek was a pleasant surprise aswel, although there was wayyyy too much talking during the set.
Overall kinda meh edition. Also fuck the Qreator bullshit. If i was there, i would have just gone for drinks at that point.

no signs of sickness so far
actually had a pretty swift recovery after a slightly fucked-up night and a looong way back to the airbnb.
Really anjoyed the first half of the night, but even though I used to really like the raw acts and the hc endings, this time they felt like even more generic boom boom and hardly any melodies and sound variations. surely I don't recall all the details rn and need to listen to the sets again on my headphones, but I'm hoping it will get better again, if qlimax keeps going for some more years.

TNT masters of the night!
Deepack only first half hour great
Bladmasterz not my style, never been a Brennan Heart fan
Showtek, their old music with new kick sounds like shit

This was my experience of Qlimax 2023:
To start off, some Deutsche Bahn rant: There was a train connection with which we should have arrived at 18:15 in Arnhem. Smart as we are, we opted for a train that started 2 hours earlier to be in Arnhem at 16:15. The departure was at 12:00. Nevertheless, we didn't arrive until 18:30. On the way back we missed two of our connecting trains, which meant we were 4 hours late again. So we had a fucking 9h train ride after leaving the event at 6:30. Deutsche Bahn is always a 1/10 experience. Next time we will go by car again for sure.
Qlimax was great though. The first half was awesome, the second rather disappointing. I think this had a lot to do with our tiredness. We we standing on the dancefloor from Deepack until the start of Devin Wild (only left for toilet and refreshing water). I was really looking forward to Devin Wild, but we decided to take a break and get something to eat. After that we spend some time on sitting in the back, watching the show not trying to fall asleep. We went to the dancefloor again later, but couldn't really enjoy it anymore. We are getting too old for these night parties.
Some ratings:
Deepack (9/10): Really cool set, we had a lot of fun. The crowd was on fire, they played great tracks. I missed proper transitions between the tracks a lot though. Well, I guess this is how it is nowadays. Also felt like Q-Dance had a huge influence on the track selection. Sometimes it was too cheesy. I really liked the The Prophecy remake.
Blademasterz (7/10): Nice set, but I felt like there were too many breaks. Imho Qlimax should have started with this set. We went to the front in the second half (for Showtek) so we could see the whole choir singing at the last (?) track. That was really great.
Showtek (10/10): Our whole group consists of Showtek fans. Back then, we went to almost every gig they played in Germany until they disappeared from hardstyle. Seeing them back again was such a great experience. The set was just awesome. Loved the mix between new and old songs. I wished they would have played longer than 30 minutes. It was over so fast. Looking forward to the new album though.
TNT (8/10): Great set again. In the end I felt it was a bit too repetitive. I think they played one hour? They should have played 15 minutes less. I had the same feeling at Defqon.
Hard Driver (5/10): The anthem show was awesome, but after that, the set was the first letdown of the night. The only thing I remember was a new track with Zaagkicks. Which sounded nice live.
Devin Wild (?/10): Sadly we missed most of this set. Only got to see the beginning and the end.
B-Front + Phuture Noize (7/10): They should have played earlier at the night. Their set felt too slow after Devin Wild with too many breaks. Looking forward to listening to it again on youtube though.
Qreator (9/10): What a great set. Too bad we were only sitting in the back when it happened.
Shadow priests, Vertile, Warface (3/10): Nothing positive, just a gigantic kicksalad.
Deadly Guns (0/10): What a shitty set to end the night. Horrible kicks, fakedrops sein Vater and every track sounded the same. This was the first time we left Qlimax early after going every year since 2013.
Stage/show: Imho best stage since 2016. It can't beat it though. The laser curtain/canvas was a nice element. Especially at Deepacks set. I have never seen something like this before. Also the laser bars on the sides were crazy. Qlimax never had so many lasers, but still, they used them too rarely for my taste. While the anthem show was a 10/10, the curtain drop was a but underwhelming. Not that I thought it was bad, but it just did not have a huge impact on me.
In hindsight we should have traveled by car and stayed on the dancefloor till the end of the Qreator set and then left the building. Then it would have been a 10/10 Qlimax.
