I love how communities dedicated to certain genres always become more negative year over year. But HS is still a good chunk away from where Ush.net (UK Hardcore) ended 10 years ago or where psynews.org was going when Goa made way for Progressive Psytrance, so whatever, I have seen this movie before
Anyways the anthem is doing its job and I still love SZP. I fell in love with them because they combined Trance-y elements with high-quality production, and they still do, so there's that. It's extremely hard for an anthem within an established music genre to be a "hit" or super exciting in the way that a normal track can, because (and you can clearly hear it in this track) it's important for anthems to be a safer so that it doesn't get on your nerves after hearing it for the 200th time in a break during the livestream or whatever, and just be a simple reflection of the modern sound.
They did that, and well! Anthems often have these minutes-long just talking-buildups that just don't work after hearing it for a few times or have some annoying part that make people go "I love this anthem, but I would never put it in my regular playlist". They avoided these mistakes, because it's as if SZP are not as uncaring and lazy as some think they are.
Can't wait for Qlimax 2023's anthem to drop and read 15 pages of "it doesn't sound like an anthem, Qlimax is supposed to be mysterious and dark". It is in these posts where the true innovation in the scene really happens.

Good intro, the second kick was actually really nice.
The buildup
this is the old Defqon anthem feeling I missed after so long.
The melody is fairly simple, but it's a Defqon anthem. I don't think these should be known for anything more complex than what would work for a crowd chant. It even has me feeling a bit nostalgic for melodies we used to hear a lot ten years ago.
That second climax too
Lovely anthem

Nah I almost never agree with ceero but even though I dislike this anthem he is completely right here and it has nothing to do with taste.
