Never really liked Headhunterz. Rock Civlization was cool, but after that his lyrics got even more crinch and his sound was not to my taste so I always "swipe left" when I see his name.
I know most people see him as current godfather of Hardstyle, but his track in my ears are just another producer.
I can assume you are more of a HC fan than HS, so in that case I can see why it is so
Sorry to disappoint but no, just don't keep track on Hardstyle releases anymore.
I sometime just check for fun but again; do I see a new Headhunterz release; swipe left :)

I got the exact same opinion with Numbers :P

I agree on the fact that original Rate Reducer > Remix though.

Honestly just about every remix from that album became overplayed. The Raiders Of The Sun was a great track with a dramatic climax, but is never played at all. Only The Story Unfolds remix still holds up, though I do prefer the original the remix isn't as different. Rate Reducer original mix had a wonderful drive too, but the cadence of the remix is so safe and slow in comparison

Sub Zero Project is in my opinion pretty overrated. They create a lot of good tracks, sound design wise, but they don't have that true hardstyle feeling when it comes to being emotional and telling a story in their tracks. This particular thing is why hardstyle doesn't interest me any more like the way it used to be. There isn't one single track that gives me goosebumps rushing with that emotional feeling.

I consider them talented since their production skills are through the roof with their new release The Silence, but if you look at this remix

They completely destroyed a classic track like this. No emotion, again these weird ass kicks of theirs and just too simple.

Perhaps not an unpopular one, but...

There are way... way, WAY too many vocals in nowadays hardstyle. With most of the stuff coming from the top names in the scene, I don't even feel like i'm listening to electronic music anymore, I feel like I accidentally tuned into a pop music radio while looking for something to listen in a car radio. The passages with a kick are what, 32 bars long at the most, breaks are 2+ minutes. Everything just tries so fucking hard to become THE next big hit it's just screaming obvious and annoying. Everything sounds so fucking precisely calculated and planned to hit the correct string in the average hardstyle listener. Spontaneity is completely gone. Where did making hardstyle that's actually fun and doesn't take itself too serious go? Where did simple party full on energy hardstyle go? Where did the hardstyle that want's to make you move, not cry go? Where did tracks that are not 3:30 long with 0:30 danceable passages go?

I know I know, evolution and shit, you don't need to tell me, i've been with this music since 2004 I know whats a change in the direction of a genre. But this is just yet again one of those a bit over the top annoying shifts and trends.

Thank god techno scene is stronger then ever today...

It went from dance music to event/show music.

QFT, this is what I have been saying for years now. Even Raw is caught up in the same trap despite being a "harder" style of the genre. This is exactly why Mainstream Hardcore died out and got replaced with Uptempo and Frenchcore.

Quite sure there's a lot of new stuff to be found on Aggressive Records, Hexablast, Spoontech, Massive Dynamic, Minus is More, Gearbox and and and... As long as you're not listening to Hard Classic Records it just won't have that early sound.

And of course the most popular producers get the most attention and of course they are arousing it by producing tracks suitable for the mass. But that's just natural for any kind of music, isn't it?

Sorry, but that is as far away as possible from simple party full on energy hardstyle. Most of it is just retarded with no soul at all, only trying to be the hardest, toughest, baddest motherfucker out there. And even that stuff's got stupidly short drops.

What John Cove said just nails it:

I mean, just listen to Hunter - I Shot The Blender (Technoboy Remix). It's simple, energetic, catchy, but most importantly, it's not already over after 20 seconds. It adds so much more to a track and makes it much easier to memorize it.
