I struggle with the same thing. My suggestion is to write down everything you need to do. Then try to organize it by priority of what you need to get done and by when it needs to be done by. (If it needs to be done sooner rather than later, it probably has a higher priority). And be reasonable with the times. A lot of people are like "I need to get these 20 things done by next week" when in reality, they could probably shorten that last.

Next, make some sort of schedule like thing. Or you could think of it like setting goals. So say for example you have a list of 15 things you know you need to get done. Try to split it up into different weeks so like you could put 3 things per week. And your goal is to try and get those 3 things done by the end of the week. Also, don't force yourself to stick perfectly with the schedule. It's fine if you can't finish. Or maybe finish something that wasn't supposed to be done that week. This is something to strive for. To try to keep you on track.

Another thing is try and break down what you have to do into smaller things. A lot of times, if you have something big to do, it may seem overwhelming, but splitting it down and taking it one thing at a time makes it a lot less overwhelming.

Another tip, if making the list, try to interweave some lesser priority things in maybe. Because looking at a list where everything HAS to be done by a time is a lot worse and overwhelming than a list where only some of the things HAS to be done. And put some time into the list for breaks or chilling. Like literally put on the list of things to do "have fun". Or just straight up some free time for whatever. That way if something else comes up, you got time for it.

Overall to sum up, take some time and thing about you gotta do, and then try to schedule it out. Figure out when things need to be done by and prioritize.

(also if you have some way to clearly denote that something is, that can help with morale. for me, I have a whiteboard because I like being able to clean the whiteboard up. Every time I finish something, I can erase it from the whiteboard and my goal is to have it completely cleared. And the act of erasing it and visually seeing it disappearing helps)

Having an inner urge to make hardstyle since as far as I can remember (10+ years) and the thought I could've been a skilled producer by now.. but all I learned are the basics of a DAW. My mind just fucking blocks if I have 100% freedom in something  my brain works best with 'checklists' like 1. do this 2. do that, and producing is (at least the 'learning as a beginner' part) the opposite, it's basically 'just fuck around till you get the hang of it'. That has blocked me for 10 years now. :( i have no idea how to fix it either, maybe I'm just fucking weird (6)

If I don't have a clear 'route' to go, it results on having no idea where to start = 24/7 hitting a brick wall..

The stupid thing is that I just sound like someone who has to try more, not give up so fast, resulting in others not understanding my issue, they just call me lazy most of the times (maybe it's partly true though, who knows) everyone has a 'wtf am I doing phase' in learning basically anything in life, but I literally just.. been fucking doing nothing for my dream the last 10 years and it feels like there's more reasons that I'm blocked than just getting out of my comfort zone like everyone else does.

I do have ADD (ADHD but without hyperactivity, and basically 0 concentration and not many things give me 'dopamine rushes' (the rewards of doing stuff always feels lower than the walls of motivation I have to push myself through to get those rewards, so payout feels not 'worth' it for most things which is partly due to
serotonin imbalance) but I have well-working meds so I don't know if that is even a excuse anymore

Dunno what to do, I don't want to become 40 and think 'what if I tried..'

The video itself is really great but makes me sad at the same time that some people still deny climate change :(

I think I have some advice on the topic for you. More in the category "what if I tried".

I know the struggle, I've been there too and still am I think. But I found few ways to move forward and it helped me atleast, I hope it helps you.

First of all, I think you should make some goals for you. Do you want to be a professional producer, artist of do you want to produce music only as a hobby. Depending on which goal you set, here is some advice which route to take.

Just want to produce music as hobby:
- Just keep on doing what you are doing at the moment. It's a hobby and it should make you feel good without any pressure and stress. :D

If you want to be a professional producer but not necessaryly an artist at the stage:
- If you want to be a professional and aim for "big league", you need to think music production as a business. This is a whole different level than just as a hobbyist.
- You should focus on educating yourself. Go to different courses/schools which provide the tools and knowledge you need to be a better producer. Also educate yourself towards handling your own business.
- You should be prepared to take risks. If you have a stable job and income, then deciding to leave that behind and start your career as a producer is even harder and riskier. There is no guarantee, that you will be succesful.
- You need money to start with. Like any other business, you need money to start it and get it going for the next few years. You also need money to live. It's not impossible to start with little to no money, but money makes things easier.
- Like any other business, these are the safe guidelines: after 3 years, your business should be stable and OK. And after 5 years, it should be booming. If not, kill the idea and start something new. No reason to torture yourself if your business isn't going well after 5 years, probably it's not going to get any better.

If you want to be an artist at the stage:
- Basically this is the easy way to get to the big boys arena. Of course, everything above is relevant here too, but all you really need is money and marketing skills.
- Buy your songs from ghost producers, it's really common in the music business and you shouldn't feel bad about it. This is business after all. Buy skills/products from other companies/producers that your business doesn't have.
- Focus on branding you and marketing.

And ofcourse you can mix the producer and artist in the same business/goal but it's a lot more work.

All in all, I have more tips for each category but I wanted to keep it quite simple. Basically, think what really matters to you and what path you want to follow. As a hobbyist (like myself), everything is still easy and there is no pressure. Everyone gets that "what if I tried" -feeling. But if that feeling is overwhelming, just fucking do it  It's not going to be easy, you are going to make mistakes, but if you try hard enough and work your ass off towards that goal, you will eventually succeed. I've gone that path with real life business (not music tho), left everything stable behind (job and steady income), took the risk and started a business and now after 2.5 years, it's finally going well. I would still have lots more to talk about this topic but have to end it somewhere

Remember, you have lots of years left in your life to do anything. Never too late to start something new :D

I want to send my very best wishes and lots of love to all the Chilean members. The pride shown by most of your citizens never cease to amaze me. To all of you who are out on the streets participating, aswell as those of you who's staying at home, stay safe and take care of your families. You deserve so much better than this, keep fighting for it. :star:

Been very nostalgic lately...
Really miss the old chats we had during event streams in IRC :'( very fun memories from the Hardbass 2012 and 2013, X-Qlusive Wildstylez, and all the old Qlimax streams I had the pleasure of joining in. I was much more unhinged but goddamn if those times weren't fun.
I can't believe 2009 was ten years ago, I remember putting on the Qlimax stream until my bedtime having to shut it off halfway through Heady's set.
