How does the process of layering a kick go? I've looked over the kick tut of Frontliner's but still having trouble understanding the process. So far I have the low frequency of a kick but not sure how to go about making the high frequency and mid frequency (if any). Seems like I'm asking too much. :\

Well, at least when I make kicks I start with the basic kick, distort/compress/eq/spice the whole thing to my taste. Then I make 3 copies, lows mids and highs, distort and eq them separately, then mix them down into one channel with some final multiband compression. After that its just polishing, sometimes if the kick lacks punch I add a short clean kick in the back to pump it up. I usually add reverb by duplicating the kick channel, leaving one untouched and one with full reverb and mix them together to fill up everything. I've seen people also layer it by 6 different channels, but the most I've made it with is Low tok, low tail, mid tok, mid tail and highs. Usually it takes a lot of practice but eventually you'll get there.

Not sure if this is what you mean with layering and I might do wrong, but this is just how I usually do it

Ok I understand a bit of it now. Usually i thought it was just one layer. Seems like I'll have to play around and understand the plugins in order to make proper high and mid frequencies. Thank you for the information :)

... er/s-1X3cn
single 909 layered with itself and some distortion and eq changes, just for more of a punchy nose. the other thing i tried to experiment with is low monitor volume. I made this kick while just barely hearing it at low volume and cranked it up here and there for reference. what do you think?

What I do, which might not be the best way, I start as usual (dist, eq, and so on and so forth). When I have something that fits my taste I then high pass that and put a heavily distorted 909 with a low pass under it. After that I layer my punch and my tail and slap some reverb.

Opinions ? only got two layers so far and just started the tok with a 909 drum gonna build on it with a hit hat or snare. Nowhere near done , any suggestions on building the tail of the kick?

Hey guys i have a kick sample. I wanted your feedback to see if i was going in the right direction with it. Anything you can point out that i need to work on would be fantastic. This was made using Logic Pro X now one thing i noticed is when i re record it, it sounds weaker than the original any way to fix it would help a lot soundcloud.com/l_magus_l/hardstyle-kick if that link doesn't work then here soundcloud.com/l_magus_l/ i only have one track..

not sure if the right section, anyway... hey guys!
Recently took a break from the crossbreed project due finding an industrial-ish one I was working and forgot of its existence. I don't know if it's overdistorted this kick and have the feeling it hasn't at all an industrial sound.

How can I make it more Industrial and perhaps fix it? Thanks in advance ;)
