@Chaze
First Part
I get what you're trying to do, sounds alright, but the mix is so all over the place, cant clearly here the kick.

Second Part
Lead is pretty decent, kick sounds alright from what I can hear. Again you have quite a muddy mix. Definitely has that oldschool fusion sound though. Good work!

@Vestritz
The vocal has a high fuzz in it, either EQ it sound, or add reverb to mellow it
Kick is ok, doesnt sound finished. The shape of the tail seems a bit odd too, but thats me nitpicking
The lead and screech are quite flat and boring, definitely need to add some layers to pad it out. Maybe some lower layers, and some saturation to bring it to life.

The Melody is alright, however Id like something a bit more creative. The structure of the song could use some work, its a bit vanilla.

Your sound design is definitely decent though, you just need to tweak! The outro comes in nicely, but the pattern after that I think is a bit awkward.

Here's mine, its the beginnings of my Defqon Anthem entry!

Mixdown is obviously not that great, some transitions need a bit of work. Let me know what you guys think!

Bass Frequency - Kick is a bit loud, you should try to get a kick more phrantic like, rest is quite interesting. More ethnic sounding percussions might have been better i think, but as it is it's ok. Good luck on the contest.

Chaze - The acid sound on the 1st prev should be solo, and with a strong delay.
2nd prev, a bit more reverb I think but everything seems good except the kick i don't like.

Vestritz - Those FX kicks at the end of intro needs to be fixed. Too much filterin imo. Kick is imo too hard for that kind of track / melody. I agree with what was said before, lead is a bit thin.

Inceptum - F**k I love it, awesome ! The kick is a bit loud and if you add some screeches on top of the lead it would be a banger, but track is really cool atm _O_

Didn't post anything here since ages. Got several tracks I'm working on, here's one :

@Chaze; Sounds great, as Bass frequency said earlier, a bit muddy mix, but otherwise great.
@Bass frequency: Cant wait to hear the rest, its really powerfull and I do like the sound design.
@Asklepios; The melody could use a bit more variation and/or more notes to make it flow. Other than that I do like the two leads building on one another. Great sound. The tail of the kick is a bit wierd, but its barely noticable.

I started with this today, really boring melody tho, but I think it has potential.

Also the fixed version of NRGY[Original mix]

@NRx Hardstyle - Your melody reminds me of a certain song that I can't remember xD , kick is cool but could be better (the tok should be longer) and the synth sound itself is also cool! But as you said, the melody can use some work :D

Need help with this preview, I would like some feedback mainly on the synth because I'm always not sure about them (I'm usually crap with normal synths :( )

Raw kicks should sound like spitting something furiously followed by the sound of dogs barking

@nrx
everything sounds really well-made, and i really like the different synths you used. agree with you on the melody, if you just tweaked it a bit it would be amazing but now it's kind of lackluster. overall it sounds great

@holder
the punch of the kick sounds a bit weird, the guitar thing should be mixed a bit better, the synth needs a bit more distortion and mid-freqs, the melody needs work, and the climax needs a lot more to it instead of just the kick and the synth, but i really like the part just after the intro before the melody comes in, and the bass in the kick is really good

i haven't come close to making a finished track in almost half a year so here's a clip that might end up getting forgotten like all the other wips i have

@typhonmusic hang in there mate, force yourself to finish 1 track. I did the same mistake of always starting other projects when the current one bored me or when I couldn't get enough ideas to finish it. Focus, put your mobile phone away and don't get distracted by other stuff :D
imo your synth is too loud and your kick sounds weak because of it. Did you duck your synth? If yes, try to duck the synth even more to give your kick more power and presence in the track! :fist:

Here's my track, I'm struggling with the intro and the breaks. I don't know what to add to gain a creepy ambient sound. (not mixed or mastered properly yet)

@Holder: I'm sorry to say it man, but you really need to work on your general sounddesign overal. Your synth sounds like a simple fast made lead. Your melody needs some work too, it needs more variaty. Your kick needs some attention too, only bass isn't good for your general kick sound. It's missing a crunchy sound that the midrange and higrange provide. Also the punch of the kick sounds a little off try boosting it at 500 HZ or around it. Try to look at some tutorials of mixdown and sounddesign it wil get you a lot further with your music. Keep up the good work.
@Typhonmusic: Really like that oldschool kind of synth and kick! Although hardcore isn't really my expertise i think the lead can use some reverb and delay it will make it sound bigger and in my opinion cooler. Also the kick is a little weak in the mix, try giving it more space by EQing the lead more. Also another tip for making the punch really sound good is sidechain the lead channels. Keep up the good work everybody has a less insperational time, and it's not bad to work on different project's all together maybe a few fit into each other and make it a full track.
@BassInstinct: I really like that first break and buildup man sounds really cool! Also the dark atmosphere is really evident on a cool way. Maybe you can ad evil laughter or a menacing vocal. Also with reverb you can make them sound more evil and bigger. BTW I think I can hear that your pitching your kicks with edison am i right? if so try to do this with cool edit pro, edison will make the tail of the kick sound weird when it's pitched higher. Also for the third time in this message :p Keep up the good work.

I just finished a preview of my track power, i know the intro part needs some work but i really couldn't wait to give my new kick a spin. Tell me what you guys think.

thanks for the feedback! i use harmor, which is a vst plugin that comes for free with fl studio. when you open it, it starts with this basic saw sound, and what i did was maxing out the unison order (it's this small grey box with a number on it, i think it goes up to 16), pitch, and pan, and setting the phase to 0 (pitch, pan, and phase are the 3 sliders next to the order box. setting the phase to 0 would be putting it in the middle).
after that you start to get a decent sounding lead. what you want to do next is go under fx at the bottom half of the harmor window, set the distortion to classic, turn the filter up almost to the top so it keeps most of the high frequencies, and turn the amount up a bit so it sounds more distorted and compressed, but not too much. i also maxed out the chorus order (i think it goes up to 10). after that i increased delay volume, feedback, and time (i did most of this after i uploaded the clip so the new version of the lead sounds better), i increased reverb volume (it's a slider in the reverb section labelled wet), i set the compression to burning, and i lowered the low end, slightly boosted the mid, and boosted the high end a bit more than the mid.
once i finished doing adjustments in harmor i added some extra plugins in the mixer. i mostly eq'd it to have more mid & high frequencies and added a bit of reverb and delay (not entirely sure about delay, that might have been entirely done in harmor) as well as a tiny bit of extra compression. finally, i gave it plenty of stereo separation. i do that with all of my synths, snares, and hihats because it makes it loud and clear without drowning out the kick nearly as much as it would if i didn't add any, and it just makes the lead sound much better. i really enjoy having the lead fill my ears.
it's probably obvious at this point that most of what i do is just pushing knobs like an idiot and figuring out what sounds good, although i do have some idea how most of what i did works. i'd also like to point out that this was done entirely with default fl studio plugins, so you don't have to buy anything unless of course you don't use fl studio, though pretty much everything i told you applies to any daw (adding a lot of unison voices to a basic saw, boosting high & mid & decreasing low end, adding reverb, delay, stereo separation, & fairly mild distortion), though it might help to explain how the stuff you use works if you get stuck
hope this is helpful
tl;dr: i used to suck at synths too but then i discovered the glory of harmor, compression, and stereo separation, and now my synths actually sound alright

Nice mid-intro, love those kinds of ‘da tweekaz' kick rolls, btw i love your Kick Fx, really well-done! Melody sounds really really really familiar, overall it sounds really great. well done!

Holder
it’s sounds a bit messy and really off-tune and your build-up is strange. analyze tracks from established artists and look how they make their tracks, learn from that and implement it in your own productions.

Climax
Nice raw sounds, nice kick fx. halfway in the mid-intro there is some kind of synth underneath in low volume? makes the mix really muddy. I can’t really understand what the voice is saying except for the 'i’m death’ part. break + the pitching part towards the climax is nicely done! a bit of an unpredictable climax but i kinda dig it. overall it has potential, however, I do think your overall mix-down is quite muddy and that needs some work.

I created something a bit different than normal, tried to create a bit of an eastern atmosphere in my track.
I have two samples for you guys: 1st: the break + climax part. it still needs vocals. but didn't find any fitting ones yet. 2nd: A quick Mid-intro test, was thinking about creating a kind of mid-intro with all kinds of different kicks, starting with a rev and eventually ending with some raw stuff. but not sure if this fits.

what do you guys think?

Quik mid-intro test/idea
