Thanks and I didnt do that simply because its 2016 and not 2006 - 2009. Its all about producing something new with an old feeling, not copying the old.DirtyTok wrote:I like the atmospheres in these tracks.. It's quite high standard, however the kicks are not my taste ofc. Maybe i will get used to it after a few more listens.
But would prefer these type of tracks with kicks from 06-09, almost like hardkick.10 then that would be perfect.
DJ Thera - The New Era [Theracords]
Re: DJ Thera - The New Era [Theracords]
For me all the tracks so far sounds very similar, very similar melodies and kick and lead. These 3 things combined for me makes them very similar sounding but I quite like them overall and it's good to hear some more melodic stuff but just thought I'd comment that since I often hear the raw fans commenting how euphoric stuff all sounds the same, the same critic can be applied here too.
Had been cool to hear more varied leads and kicks, that had done wonders for me personally and lifted it to potential album of the year, now it just so far seems like a good album.

If you use acid synths/supersaws/kicks in new ways, where is the problem ?! Did you even read what I typed ? It's when you add them in a track the most boring way possible (and I know those acid oriented tracks can be very annoying).Maximumraver wrote:You're not talking about simple or complex, you are talking about things being "your taste", and when they are not, you complain. I could argue just as well that acid (303s) are overused, or supersaws, or even KICKS, "ever hardstyle track has kicks, they are overused, why don't you make one without one" which would be equally ridicoulous.Bibifoc wrote:These instruments are so overused in electronic music in lame ways ...
It's not showing off to use complex (or simpler) chain of effects correctly to make new sounds with basic stuff, you do the same thing for kicks so why not other type of sounds ?
If you want glitchy stuff or whatnot, you can check out Noisecontrollers/Audiofreq/Geck-o etc. but you can't tell an artist to be more "your taste", and disguise it by saying " not (my taste) is overused and lame."
Your argument is shit.
Same for violon/guitar/piano/etc, if you only know to use them like everybody has done it in the past, it won't give much to the track. Moreover these specific instruments have been used so much in Music (globally), and a lot of people are still going on with the same cheapness, filling breaks with classic instruments on several limited notes.
It won't automatically make a track bad if the rest is original/creative of course, but it's not something to neglect.
And when did I talk about glitchy stuff ?

no, this is bs. I think you overreacted a bit. I am into several genres and subgenres ranging from music under 100 bpm until very fast stuff at about 240 and I dont even want to try listing all the different kicks I love listening too there.DjThera wrote: Welcome to 2016I absolutely love these kicks, to combine the raw with melodies. This is what I want people to consider the 'Thera' sound. I have made over 100 of tracks with oldschool kicks in the past from 2000 till even on my last album in 2014. It was time for me to re-invent my style and with The New Era this is 100% my style and what I love.
There will always be people like Katsching and Icey that don't respect other sounding kicks and genres and only want the exact same sounding kicks as it was 1000 of years ago, no problem with that, but I am producing for myself and I can only produce what I love
These common hardstyle kicks on the other hand sound to me like metallic farts to which pubescent teens love to fistpump because they think they have never heard a harder and cooler thing.
But I really enjoy and like the fact (it actually gives me a smile considering this) that you produce only and ONLY what you love and like to produce and to reflect on every semblance of critics on my part: you are one heck of a producer, man. You have already done so much, released so many piece of arts. I still listen to so many of your (older) stuff nowadays. Just wanted to give my two cents on these kicks
