Good synthesizers for Hardstyle

Post by bigbangdj »

Hi new to the forums, just wondering what people mostly use to get a good synth sound? Previously i have used Fl studios Harmless but thats not exactly cutting it, would like some ideas for synths, possible something unusual or a different way of making hardstyle synths, any input is helpful :)

You can't really produce Hardstyle unless you have a Virus and Logic's Clip Distortion.

That´s all about personal preferences. I find myself using Sylenth1 for almost everything, now I am learning Massive and Fm8 as Sylenth can´t deal with wavetable and fm-synthesis, but most of the standard hs sounds are achievable anyway through substractive and (also important) sampling based synthesis. However how a synth sounds depends mostly on the man programming it. You need to have a general synthesis knowledge, have a synth that you like using and learn it inside out, spend a lot on time on it and then you will be able to get a lot of sounds out of almost every synth.

Commonly used virtual synths are:
- Lennar Digital Sylenth
- Native Instruments Massive
- Reveal Sound Spire
- Xfer Serum

However, keep in mind that you will also need external fx to get yourself an awesome lead :)

You must have been living under a very big rock, they have been the most talked about vsts for a very long time (although serum is only just released, it has been hyped for years)

This is something I can't deny actually.. it's only since this year, in years, that i'm actively talking to other producers (the skype group) :p I just never heard of those VST's before
