When will commercial progressive house die out?
In the beginning there were cavemen with sticks and stones that created music.
Then Mozart came along, some ppl liked him a lot.
Then came rolling stones, yatta yatta..
Year 2000 - 2008ish RnB and Hip Hop.
Nowadays all you hear is this Hardwell, Swedish House Mafia, Avicii and all that.
I know some of y'all dig it, so I won't hate. But most of the "fans" out there are fake fans.
I know I was made fun of for listening to Trance and Techno when I was young.
Because I didn't dig what was "in" at that time. The same people that "really" loved J-Lo and Black Eyed Peas n stuff are now "die hard fans" of House...
They juust follow the wave.

There will always be a mainstream type of music, the type that is popular. I'd say it was Eurodance in the 90's and it went towards Trance and (Euro) Dance in the early 2000's. That slowly shifted towards Progressive House and -nowadays, it's Bigroom House. I really enjoyed the commercial House sound up until around 2008/2010 when it started going a bit stale. The style didn't evolve much anymore, and people were starting to copy older hits' melodies.
I think that was the time when it started shifting towards the Bigroom House that it is now. Sandro Silva's & Quintino's "Epic" in late 2011 was probably one of the first hits within the style. It was cool, but anticlimax to me is exactly that. A bit of an anti-climax. I like melodies. A bit of raw anticlimactic stuff is alright with me, but personally, I don't want to be teased into thinking there's going to be an awesome melody and then get a bassline shoved down my throat, 20 times within 1 set. The buildup's are currently all the same, the drops are the same and the surprise element is completely gone after 2 of them.
The currently growing hate towards the style, as well as that I've noticed that the style seems to be going a little stale makes me think we're probably going to be seeing a new type of House (I assume we'll stick to House) in a year or 2.
Right before the anticlimactic stuff there was a little while where Electro House with a hint of Dubstep was a thing. I'm hoping we can get the Electro House sound back, possibly with a hint of complextro, as the new mainstream.
Anyway, for all you know, we might be starting to shift to a danceable type of Metal next. There will always be a mainstream sound/style, and it might just be the one style you adore the most.

hopefully as soon as possible, I can't stand all those david guetta clones with their block-patterened shirts, tanned skin and toothpasted smiles. afrojack, quintino hurr hurr..... And for what are they standing behind the decks? midintro's building up towards less-energetic mid-intros.. oh, and sometimes a saw synth which makes it trancy. But oh no they can't possible go that way, it must sound like an upgraded form of bubbling music! with cheesy house beats! cooooooollllllllAstroshade wrote:When will this die out?

True, but still - they can dress as they want, can be naked for all I care, as long as I get bruises from the phat kicks I'm happy.Shadow Interaction wrote:the friggin' hollywood sunglasses and leather jackets. Seriously has a bad influence on hardstyle aswell.

Black leather jackets all day because it makes you look tough. Better wear them during that press photo shoot and never again!Shadow Interaction wrote: and I almost forgot: the friggin' hollywood sunglasses and leather jackets. Seriously has a bad influence on hardstyle aswell.
On a more serious note, I'm not entirely sure, but I believe I heard a "tune" at the gym a couple of days ago that had a pitched bass in a similar way that hardstyle has it, with a distinct distortion to it... Go away pls.
