8:02 PM - Kekkel(Me): please do not tell me Tear U Down (Audiofreq) and Fire (Ferry Corsten) sound the same
8:03 PM - greatEight(Muh friend): They dont
8:03 PM - Kekkel: though my comparison was
8:03 PM - Kekkel: very bad
8:03 PM - greatEight: However musically and in terms of the instrumental composition they are similiar enough
8:03 PM - greatEight: That I dont think I should have to call them different things
8:03 PM - Kekkel: you can go so far as saying that anything using a 4x4 beat is the same
8:04 PM - greatEight: Its like the difference between artists within a genre
8:04 PM - greatEight: But its still the same genre to me
8:04 PM - greatEight: I dont know why there are so many subcategories of the electronic genre
8:04 PM - Kekkel: hardstyle and trance are completely different genres with some roots that are shared, but otherwise extremely different
8:04 PM - greatEight: Is it just a product of people trying to be different
8:04 PM - Kekkel: nah
8:04 PM - greatEight: Okay but let me ask you
8:05 PM - greatEight: What is hardstyle and how is it different form everything else in the electronic genre
8:05 PM - Kekkel: You really can't say that Armin van Buuren should be in the same genre/category as Coone
8:06 PM - greatEight: But inevitably I can
8:06 PM - greatEight: Because all music is inherently different and any attempt to categorize or gather it into genres is a foolish endeavor designed to simplify decisions so people dont have to think

Sometimes I really do want to kill my friends

It's just such a noobish, generalised term. It's the new "techno".. As Practice said, Even most pop is considered "EDM", It's such a broad term. I find it funny when asking someone what music they listen to and they reply "I listen to EDM"... It's like asking someones favourite food and they reply "Cooked".

It's not that the term is incorrect, it's that it lost its original meaning just as a cover term for all eletronic dance music and is now connotated with House and mainstream.

just ignore it?? the best thing people can do if they hate something is purely promote what they like and deny the existence of the thing they hate. If you hate something yet you talk about it, the less likely the thing you hate will fade away!

What I personally dislike about the term edm is the fact that it reminds me of how much the entire dance scene is imploding, constantly getting influenced by other dance genres and melting together to one point at which one can say that "EDM" is their favourite genre... And then people call that innovative...

Anyone knows where you can buy cool hardstyle/hardcore-posters? I'm moving soon, and I need something cool to hang on the walls.

I'm not sure whether to like the original or the remix of Boy's Interface. Both are fun <3 but...

Beholder & Balistic remix is fantastic. I mean the original is some classic oldschool (back when hardcore meant hardcore techno) but I enjoy the remix.
