Quesiton about my channels/instruments clipping...
Okay guys so i have a question... so say i have a channel setup and so far the 3 plugins i have loaded are
1. EQ
2. Dist.
3. EQ
The first EQ i have put, i am going to be doing some high peaks wich will result in the output to be clipping....
Followed will by Distortion wich will bring the channel level back down to 0.....
should i adjust the EQ volume output so where it is not clipping or is it fine in this matter because i have put a distortion unit that will bring my channel output level to 0?

pull down the channel than or the master bus.
if u design a kick just pull down the main bus, if u design something else just pull down the channel.
thats what i do usually.
more description would be usefull cause i dont get it what u are referring to.
sound design or mixing ??

Okay like you said when designing a kick..... so say i put dist then EQ... the EQ will cause the channel to start clipping.... would i want to bring the EQ output down so the channel doesnt clip?

i would just pull down the mixer channel.

use a volume plugin on the chain and bring it again below 0db, or you can even use a softclip if your using FL studio. but if you don't mind too much then pull down the mixer channel
hmu if u agree

That,
and i "normaly" have a kick chain of atleast 10 channels. ill pull down all channel faders to about half way down. and than.. mixing time..
but that's just me. do what you want..
three solutions for this:
-not care and take care of it later
-put the volume down
-add a limiter (which affects the dynamics)
not sure if there's really a difference in between option 1&2 (didn't try yet) but option 3 can give a certain touch, depending on what limiter you use, but kiss your dynamics goodbye then lol

Can't i just turn down the output volume on the plugin that is causing the clipping?
i guess theres no exact way to do it huh haha
and as for my master channel clipping, would i just bring that down a few -DB or add a limiter?

Clipping your channels distorts the signal in a different way a distortion unit would do,
Volume affects your bass (you probably have noticed that a silent kick sounds different than the same loud kick?)
Turn up the volume of your speakers and turn down your mixer volumes, this way you don't have to make a compromise between sound & volume.
