Post by Keletho »

At 0:47, there is that really distinctive distorted kick, but it's not the normal hardstyle kick that comes in at the drop but more like a screech...

This type of screech/kick is everywhere in Hardstyle! How is it made?

its a 'yoi'

dist and bit crush a bass, automate the volume, this can give the 'yoi' sound

or be lazy and use one of the many presets in sylenth and massive that have this sound :)

there are loads of threads throughout this forum on how to make fx kicks, and loads of videos on youtube too!

But if your lazy ..

Grab a kick, high peak in an eq between approx 400-1000hz, distort the life out of it. Or alternatively use camelphat and a fat bandpass with lots of reso and tube distortion. Send to a group channel in your daw with reverb, and voila! Crunchy fx kicks

Make a kick. Sample it (or use a presampled kick), put Camelphat 3 on it and play with the BP filter, MM filter and distortion units. I recommend to use Bandpass Fat or Peaking on the MM filter to get a sound similair to this one. Good luck! ;) (Oh and deactivate all other units, cause you won't need them!)

Yeah!
I sampled my kick and added a bunch of distortions. Fruity Fast Dist, Camelphat, Ohmicide & Devastor.
And then automated the filter from camelphat to give the best effect :)
