Getting signed

Post by ChristianHardstyle »

Yesterday i sent a track of mine to a label and they said that it's good and they want to release it with another track.
Do i need to sign something or other things to have a legal release, copyright things, money earning and other things? :)

Depending on the label you will have to sign a contract for the release only or a contract for a certain amount of time, usually 5 years. Read the contracts carefully before you agree to them.

One of my lectures in University is to do with copyright/intellectual property.. Before you sign any contract, read it properly or get a lawyer! Seriously, the amount of huge bands that have made very famous songs have been fucked over by their labels/people.

That's why I don't trust record companies.
