Re: how can I make my sounds better

.use an eq with bands, pull one up to the highest dB, change the size of it to very small, then keep changing the frequency until you find a bad sound. then just turn that frequency down probably about -4 to -6 dB and do this a lot and it will end up sounding better

EQ on leads I usually cut out everything below 50h, and do a slight 4db boost around 5-10khz
I would also like to know how to get my mixdowns louder, I was told to put a compressor on the master channel but I found that hard to believe. Any ideas?

good idea for a topic imo dunno if there is anotherone like this 
I usually cut leads at 100hz (depending on what lead I am making ofc) but most of the time the bassier notes is just in the way of your kick so I prefer to have the lower freq's for the kick and for making the mixdown louder I usually use a multiband compressor and do some final eq and such dunno if that is good but the volume is nice imo

1.Only Cut 30hz and 20khz and more out Of the Synth and than just Do Eqing , the synths still need Warmth so just lower or boost low freqs on the lead if needed.
Analyze a Lead of a Producers track and u will see it still has 50hz -100hz nothing cutted out there, if u eq too much out or u cut too much it will sound too dry and lame.
On ur Question 2.Make ur Mix louder with Mastering , Put it into Wavelab for example and normalize it or Set the RMS (loudness propably)., or if u have a good mixdown just boost the volume with a Brickwall Limiter and than do the usual mastering.
3.Kicks Need Enough Stereo So use Stereo On ur kick till its good, if u use too much it can cause phase problems or it will pan too much out.
My Question Can u Put a Limiter On Everything to avoid peaks and stuff???
