Mixing Hardcore-into Hardstyle

Post by icey »

Hey guys,

Quite new-ish to Hardcore even though i've been 'flirting' with the genre for some time now, simply because Hardstyle isn't Hard enough for me anymore...(I can't see myself ever NOT listening to Hardstyle even though I think 90% of it is fuckin shit!). As this is a new forum, I'm hoping I can learn about Hardcore(from scratch) here...
I've registered with GHC for a while now but think it might be easier to learn much about this genre here??

Anyway, i'd like to know more about mixing Hardcore in general?? Do you mix it completely different from the way you would mix Hardstyle?? Or do you mix the same as Hardstyle but it's just at 160/170+??

I also find a little difficult mixing Hardcore at the end of my Hardstyle sets?? I tend to use tracks with a 'cut-off' point at 50secs(Or whatever the cut-off point is)??(then would speed track up to Hardcore speed)?? Rather than speeding up my final Hardstyle track to mix-in the 'core' track??

Example of what track I usually use to mix Hardcore into a Hardstyle set would be:

As you see, the Cut-off/mix point is 54secs here. :)

Depends on the style I guess, because crossbreed stuff (DnB+HC mixed, stuff by TOA, Dj Hidden, Endah etc) got comepletly different arrangement.. mainstream got arrangement similar to hardstyle though..
I'm grumpier than you.

Do people even read these?

You can always go with 'millennium-Hardcore', these tracks are usually a lot slower than nowadays' mainstream. Of course there's also a lot of more industrial stuff that's slower, but that might be too big of a step if you're coming from something as soft as hardstyle.

When i mix from hardstyle to hardcore i try to use tracks that is more hardcore like.
Few examples here:

http://lsdb.eu/set/79379/Creators_Proje ... 04-11.html
http://lsdb.eu/set/55590/Creators_Proje ... 08-10.html
http://lsdb.eu/set/75691/Morten_K_-_Out ... 03-11.html
http://lsdb.eu/set/66147/Morten_K_-_Dec ... 12-10.html

Or like Imil said, there is hardcore tracks that isn't that fast, and good example is

About the pitching and cutting it all depends on the tracks you use.
In general all hardcore tracks have a 8x16 intro and then its up to you if you wanna cut it or not.
and pitching is again up to you if you wanna pitch the hardcore down to the same bpm as the hardstyle track or you wanna pitch the hardstyle track up to the same bpm as the hardcore. When i do it, i pitch the hardstyle track up a bit and the hardcore track down a bit so they meet a the middle :D

I love 'Bang the Drum'(Broken rules remix) & Eternal War(Broken rules remix) but thats more Industrial-Techno I think init?...I'm thinking more mainstream stuff to mix at then end of my Hardstyle sets. Not too crazy? Maybe Mad Dog or Tha Playah stuff? ;)
