For leads and screeches, I mostly stick to Zebra, though a lot of people prefer to use Sylenth. From what I gather, using Nexus can be very quick, but it can get really unoriginal.

For kicks, you're pretty much between using Microtonic and Hydra, though from the few videos by the pros that show what they do for kicks, they seem to be overdriving 909 bassdrum samples, then running it through eq'ing over and over and distorting it. Personally, I prefer to use Microtonic, and then proceed to use Ohmicide and Camelphat for pretty much all of their features.

Besides Ohmicide and Camelphat, the only effects I really use are in the KarmaFX series.

And for sfx, I just stick to samples, with various effects on them, making your sfx takes too much time, and the samples would probably still be better.

Cheers
